Great artists and quality glasses in a magical atmosphere to celebrate the happy union between jazz music and the city of Brunello.  \nFor the 28th edition\, the festival presents a program featuring artists such as Enrico Pieranunzi\, Kenny Barron\, Malika Ayane\, Nicola Piovani\, Fabrizio Bosso and Javier Girotto\, Avishai Cohen \nFrom July 22 to 27\, Jazz & Wine in Montalcino returns.\nNow in its 28th year\, the festival is a collaboration between the renowned Banfi winery\, the Rubei family of the Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome and the   Municipality of Montalcino. \nIn these 28 years\, thanks to its original formula\, in which a cultural reality such as Alexanderplatz and a true patron such as Banfi collaborate side by side\, Jazz & Wine in Montalcino has attracted many of the most famous international and Italian jazz artists to its stage. Artistic direction by Eugenio Rubei\, who follows in the wake of the vision of its longtime artistic director\, Giampiero Rubei. The festival offers space for the most diverse proposals of the international jazz scene\, opening up to sporadic forays into pop: a mix of languages that wins and convinces by consecrating this billboard as one of the most beloved ever\, followed by an audience that – over time – continues to grow.   \nTuesday\, July 22\nIt starts on Tuesday\, July 22\, in the picturesque setting of Castello Banfi\, with LEGEND OF JAZZ KENNY BARRON TRIO. Considered one of the world’s greatest jazz pianists\, celebrated for his lyrical and refined style\, Barron has recorded more than forty albums as a leader. He has also received numerous awards\, including 13 Grammy nominations and the title of NEA Jazz Master. For more than a decade he has led a close-knit trio with Kiyoshi Kitagawa on double bass and Johnathan Blake on drums.    \nWednesday\, July 23\nOn Wednesday\, July 23\, also at Castello Banfi\, comes ENRICO PIERANUNZI TRIO. On stage alongside the well-known pianist\, an absolute excellence of Italian jazz\, will be Francesco Petreni\, a Sienese drummer of remarkable technical-musical quality\, and the phenomenal Danish double bassist Thomas Fonnesbaek\, with whom he has a long-standing collaboration from which intense and overwhelming albums have resulted. A trio not to be missed\, considered among the best European ensembles.   \nThursday\, July 24  \nOn Thursday\, July 24 \, the festival moves to the medieval walls of the Montalcino Fortress where\, exclusively for Tuscany\, singer-songwriter MALIKA AYANE will perform. With five appearances at the Sanremo Festival\, she has won two “Mia Martini Critics’ Awards.” Six albums and numerous collaborations with artists such as Bocelli\, Cremonini\, Jazzanova\, to celebrate her fifteen-year career she is back live with Malika Ayane at Teatro 2024.   \n Friday\, July 25\nA performance of great stature will take place on Friday\, July 25. On stage NICOLA PIOVANI ORCHESTRA with “Notes on the Margin\,” a kind of autobiographical tale commissioned from Nicola Piovani by the Cannes Film Festival in 2003 (under the title “Leçon Concert”). In the wake of memories and anecdotes\, the Maestro retraces some of the great encounters that have marked his path. From Federico Fellini\, fondly remembered for his small foibles and mastery as a director\, from the Taviani to Vincenzo Cerami and Roberto Benigni\, with episodes narrated with lightness and sincerity. Life experiences between music\, cinema\, and theater that Piovani recounts by accompanying them with the notes of his piano\, along with saxophone and double bass. Telling in music helps to understand the meaning of the tale of Piovani who emphasized “I do not remember a single moment in my life when there was not music.”      \nThe concert is in collaboration with Winenews\, which strongly wanted the great artist in Montalcino\, on the Jazz & Wine stage. \nSaturday\, July 26\nOn Saturday\, July 26\, ahead of their 20th anniversary\, “Latin Mood\,” a group led by JAVIER GIROTTO and FABRIZIO BOSSO with “Desde cuando\,” return to the stage of Jazz & Wine in Montalcino. A new album\, a renewed opportunity to produce new music in that infinitely varied language that is Latin Jazz. In the concert\, along with new compositions\, there will be no shortage of the group’s historical songs from previous albums\, “Sol” and “Vamos.”   \nThe 28th edition of Jazz & Wine in Montalcino closes on Sunday\, July 27. Featuring AVISHAI COHEN QUARTET\, one of the most original and acclaimed trumpet players on the world contemporary jazz scene\, known for his personal sound and constant artistic research. The traditional event dedicated to Metodo Classico will be held on July 23 in the beautiful setting of the Nicosia family’s historic vineyards in contrada Monte Gorna\, Trecastagni.  \nBolle in Vigna was born from the great passion for the Metodo Classico of Tenute Nicosia\, which for more than 15 years has been producing sparkling wines on Etna with the area’s native grape varieties: nerello mascalese and carricante. Thanks to its long experience and expertise in the field of Metodo Classico\, today Tenute Nicosia offers a range of labels with great personality\, capable of expressing the terroir’s potential to the fullest with aging on the lees for up to 60 months. It was precisely from Tenute Nicosia’s sparkling wine vocation that the desire arose to create a moment of encounter and in-depth study to spread the culture of the Metodo Classico\, through Etna’s versions and those made by producers from other Italian and foreign territories.   \nThe Masterclass\nEvery year Bolle in Vigna offers an in-depth look at a particular theme related to the world of Metodo Classico. This year’s edition will be dedicated to the versions produced at high altitudes\, a theme that is not only linked to the territory of Etna\, but is also highly topical in relation to the consequences caused by the climatic crisis\, which is driving the search for vineyards at higher and higher altitudes to ensure ideal ripening of grapes with high levels of acidity.  \nOn Wednesday\, July 23\, at 6:45 p.m.\, the Masterclass “Bubbles between Heaven and Earth\, the Classic Method of Altitude” will be held\, led by Daniela Scrobogna\, chair of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Sommelier Foundation. This year’s blind tasting will touch on some of the highest peaks of the Metodo Classico in Italy and the world\, comparing sparkling wines from Etna (‘A Muntagna for its inhabitants) with others from various territories\, even very different and distant from each other\, but united by the high altitude of the vineyards and a viticulture that can be defined\, in many cases\, as “heroic”: 8 high-altitude labels characterized by the fresh and crystalline profile\, typical of mountain wines.  \nThree Saints Party\nAt 8:30 p.m.\, the traditional welcome saber rattling will kick off the festivities of the “Sosta Tre Santi Party\,” which once again this year features a program full of surprises\, music\, entertainment and prestigious guests\, who will take turns in the living room among the vines curated by the editorial staff of Living in The City\, this edition’s media partner. There will be no shortage of bubbles\, with the tasting counters of the latest disgorgements of the Metodo Classico Blanc de’ Noir\, Blanc de Blancs and Rosé Sosta tre Santi labels and the Etna Doc Bianco and Rosso wines from Tenute Nicosia‘s contrada Monte Gorna and contrada Monte San Nicolò\, the prestigious Trento Doc Ferrari sparkling wines and the cuvées of the famous Champagne maison Palmer & Co.  \nIn the food area\, accompanying the kitchen team of L’Osteria di Cantine Nicosia\, led by Chef Salvo Baudo\, will be live preparations by some of the protagonists of the Etna gastronomic scene. Uzeta Bistrò and Bavetta\, interpreters in Catania of the new-generation osteria formula; the pizzeria Crescenzio in Giarre\, one of the best pizzas in Sicily according to Gambero Rosso; Forno Biancuccia with its bread made with whole-wheat flours from Sicilian durum wheat\, included in the Slow Food Travel circuit and awarded for the third consecutive year with the Three Breads on the “Bread & Panettieri d’Italia” guide by Gambero Rosso; and then again a corner dedicated to cured meats of excellence with Mortadella ‘Favola’ Gran Riserva from the historic Salumificio di Modena Palmieri and Prosciutto cotto from the renowned Turin-based brand Lenti.   \nAlso enlivening the evening is a mixology corner with Amaro ‘Amara‘-based cocktails.
