SUMMARY:Jazz & Wine in Montalcino
DESCRIPTION:Jazz & Wine in Montalcino: unique settings for a summer of great jazz. From July 20 to 26 in Montalcino (Siena)\, the festival returns—a collaboration between the Banfi winery\, the Rubei family of Rome’s Alexanderplatz\, and the Municipality of Montalcino.\nFor its 29th edition\, the program ranges from the energy of the Kenny Garrett Electric Band to the refined sounds of artists such as Danilo Rea\, Enrico Rava\, Stefano Di Battista\, Rita Marcotulli\, and Andy Sheppard \n Jazz & Wine in Montalcino returns from July 20 to 26 at the picturesque venues of Castello Banfi and the Fortress of Montalcino\, offering a week of great music that combines international jazz\, musical fusion\, and the region’s finest wines. \nNow in its 29th edition\, thanks to the collaboration betweenAlexanderplatz\, Banfi\, and the Municipality of Montalcino\, Jazz & Wine in Montalcino brings some of the most prominent Italian and international jazz artists to the stage. Under the artistic direction of Eugenio Rubei\, following in the footsteps of his father Giampiero’s vision\, the festival presents a lineup ranging from the energy of the Kenny Garrett Electric Band to the refined sounds of artists such as Danilo Rea\, Enrico Rava\, Stefano Di Battista\, Rita Marcotulli\, and Andy Sheppard\, including tributes to jazz tradition\, Brazilian influences\, and original projects featuring some of the most influential performers on the contemporary scene. A unique event celebrating the convergence of music\, culture\, and wine in the heart of Tuscany\, it remains one of the most popular festivals with the public\, enjoying steady growth. \nMonday\, July 20\nThe event kicks off on Monday\, July 20\, in the picturesque setting of Castello Banfi\, featuring the Kenny Garrett Electric Band’s “Tribute to Miles Davis.” A saxophonist and composer from Detroit\, Kenny Garrett is one of the most influential heirs to Miles Davis’s electric jazz: he joined Miles’s band in 1987 and became a key member until Davis’s passing in 1991. At Jazz & Wine\, he brings his Electric Band with a tribute that draws directly from that legacy. Among his many awards is the title of NEA Jazz Master. \nTuesday\, July 21\nThe program continues on Tuesday\, July 21\, again at Castello Banfi\, with Danilo Rea and Doctor 3. Having performed at nearly every edition of the festival\, Rea’s name has become synonymous with the event itself. A pianist of extraordinary sensitivity\, he is the only Italian mentioned in Leonard Feather and Ira Gitler’s Biographical Encyclopedia of Jazz. With Doctor 3—the trio featuring Enzo Pietropaoli on double bass and Fabrizio Sferra on drums\, founded in 1997 and named best jazz group by critics for three consecutive years—he brings to the stage at Castello Banfi all the power of a musical partnership unique in Italian jazz. \nWednesday\, July 22\nOn Wednesday\, July 22\, again at Castello Banfi\, for the third concert of the series\, Hamid Drake meets Antonello Salis featuring Stefano “Cocco” Cantini & Rosario Bonaccorso . Hamid Drake\, an American jazz drummer and percussionist who blends Afro-Cuban\, Indian\, and African influences into his free jazz collaborations. He takes the stage with Antonello Salis\, one of the greatest soloists in Italian jazz\, an innovator\, and a creator of new expressive techniques of international renown. Rounding out the lineup are Stefano “Cocco” Cantini\, a saxophonist who boasts prestigious collaborations\, including with Chet Baker and Michel Petrucciani\, and is the longtime organizer of the Grey Cat Festival\, and Rosario Bonaccorso\, a well-known double bassist and composer with a deeply emotional style. \nThursday\, July 23\nOn Thursday\, July 23\, the festival moves to Montalcino\, inside the historic Fortress\, featuring the Stefano Di Battista Quintet with special guest Paco Sery in “We Love Miles.” A mainstay of Aldo Romano’s various groups and a member of Michel Petrucciani’s sextet\, Di Battista released his first album in 1997 on the Label Bleu. In 1998\, he signed his first contract with the legendary Blue Note. In Montalcino\, he presents a tribute to the great artist\, “We Love Miles.” \nFriday\, July 24\nOn Friday\, July 24\, the Jazz & Wine stage will feature one of the most recognizable and refined voices in contemporary bossa nova: Rosalia de Souza Bossa Band. Born in Rio de Janeiro\, she has collaborated with legendary figures such as Roberto Menescal. She will perform in Montalcino with her new band as part of the 2026 Italian Tour. \nSaturday\, July 25\nSaturday\, July 25\, promises to be an intense\, elegant\, and emotionally charged concert: the Rita Marcotulli Quartet featuring special guest Andy Sheppard. She is the most awarded and acclaimed Italian pianist in the world of jazz. At the helm of her quartet\, she welcomes British saxophonist Andy Sheppard to create an original concert designed exclusively for Montalcino. This renews an artistic partnership spanning decades—refined and profound—in a continuous quest for sound that unites jazz\, lyricism\, and contemporary influences. \nSunday\, July 26\nThe 29th edition of the festival wraps up on Sunday\, July 26\, with a bang: the Enrico Rava Quintet\, “The Fearless Five\,” takes the stage. Rava is undoubtedly the best-known and most internationally acclaimed Italian jazz musician. Always engaged in the most diverse projects\, with a human and artistic candor that sets him apart from the norm\, he has established himself as one of the most compelling soloists in European jazz. He brings his new project to Montalcino: a “fearless” quintet that combines the youthful\, creative energy of the new generation of Italian jazz musicians with the bandleader’s vast experience. \nInformation\nArtistic Director: Eugenio Rubei (Alexanderplatz Jazz Club in Rome\, Sound&Image) \nAll Jazz & Wine performances in Montalcino will begin at 9:45 p.m. \njazzandwinemontalcino.it \nfondazionebanfi.it \nReservations: Vivaticket.com – Information line : 892 234

SUMMARY:Calici in Borgo 2026
DESCRIPTION:Calici in Borgo 2026: The Challenge of Wine Tourism. In the historic village of Porta di Olevano sul Tusciano (SA)\, three days of fine wines\, culture\, and beauty \nThere are places that seem destined to tell the story of wine. Not only because they preserve ancient agricultural traditions\, but because they possess that rare ability to transform every glass into an experience woven from landscape\, history\, encounters\, and identity. \nIt is from this vision that “Calici in Borgo” takes shape \, the wine festival that\, from July 31 to August 2\, 2026\, will once again bring the Antico Borgo of Porta di Olevano sul Tusciano—in the heart of the Picentini Mountains—to life\, reaffirming its status as one of the most interesting food and wine events of the summer in Southern Italy. \nNow in its second consecutive year\, the festival is the result of the effortsof APS I MULINI\, chaired by Vincenzo Cicatelli\, and a shared commitment to making wine a powerful tool for promoting the region. A project that\, right from its debut\, won over both the public and industry professionals\, drawing over 5\,000 visitors in just two days during the 2025 edition. \nBy 2026\, the event will have grown in size\, content\, and prestige.\nMore than 100 wines will be featured\, presented by 50 wineries from all over Italy\, which will showcase their regions directly to visitors\, industry professionals\, restaurateurs\, sommeliers\, and wine tourism operators. \nThe real novelty\, however\, will be the festival’s international expansion.\nFor the first time\, French and Spanish wineries will also be participating in Calici in Borgo\, fostering a dialogue among some of Europe’s most important wine-growing cultures. This exchange will enrich the audience’s experience and help raise the event’s profile on the national stage. \n“Calici in Borgo” is not just a series of wine tastings.\nIt is a journey through wine as a universal language\, capable of bringing together producers and enthusiasts\, regions and traditions\, innovation and history. For three days\, the ancient stone-paved streets of the Borgo di Porta\, its alleys\, squares\, and panoramic views transform into a vast open-air wine cellar\, where every tasting table tells a story and every glass holds the history of a land. \nA concept that taps into one of the most significant trends in contemporary tourism: that of travelers who seek authenticity\, experiences\, and local identity. \nIn this scenario\, Olevano sul Tusciano plays a strategic role.\nLocated in a prime spot between the Amalfi Coast and the Cilento National Park\, the village serves as a natural gateway to the inland areas of the province of Salerno. Its proximity to the Battipaglia highway exit—just seven kilometers away—and to the Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi Airport—about ten kilometers away—makes the festival easily accessible even to visitors from other regions and abroad. \nThis central geographic location translates into a real opportunity for tourism development.\nThe organizers’ stated goal is\, in fact\, to transform “Calici in Borgo” into a hub for wine tourism in inland areas\, demonstrating how even small villages can play a leading role in a cultural offering capable of attracting a discerning audience and spreading tourist traffic throughout the year. \nIt is no coincidence that the event is sponsored by the Campania Region\, the Province of Salerno\, the Municipality of Olevano sul Tusciano\, the Salerno Chamber of Commerce\, and CNA Salerno—institutions that have recognized the festival as an important opportunity to promote the region and its outstanding products. \nAmong the project’s founders is the mayor of Olevano sul Tusciano and provincial councilor\, Dr. Michele Ciliberti\, who from the very beginning believed in wine’s potential to become a tool for local development and for promoting the town’s historical and cultural heritage. \nThe Organization of the 2026 Edition\nFrom sunset until late at night\, amid the stone-paved alleys of the Antico Borgo di Porta\, wine will serve as the common thread of a story that spans lands\, people\, and cultures. For three days\, Olevano sul Tusciano will offer visitors an experience that combines wine tasting\, scenic beauty\, hospitality\, and local identity\, demonstrating how the future of wine tourism can also emerge from small villages when the quality of hospitality meets the power of a shared vision. \nBecause\, after all\, every great wine tells the story of a place. And Calici in Borgo tells the story of a region that has chosen to make itself known through the most universal language there is: that of hospitality. \nFinally\, the event’s profile will be further enhanced by a collaboration with Paestum Wine Fest\, the format created by founder Angelo Zarra\, recognized as the largest and most established business event dedicated to the world of Italian wine. This synergy represents significant added value for Calici in Borgo 2026\, fostering new networking opportunities among producers\, industry professionals\, buyers\, and experts\, and reaffirming the organizers’ commitment to growing the festival within the main national wine circuits. \nInformation:\n\nWhere: Borgo Porta\, Salitto di Olevano sul Tusciano (SA)\nWhen: July 31 through August 2\, from 8:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

SUMMARY:Cirò Wine Festival
DESCRIPTION:Cirò Wine Festival: On August 10\, the summer event celebrating a millennia-old tradition returns\nOn August 10\, the Consortium’s festival in Madonna di Mare\, featuring the Consortium’s wineries and singer-songwriter performances \nCirò DOCG\nToday\, Cirò is one of the most dynamic wine appellations in the wine scene of Southern Italy—and not just in Calabria. It is a region where fishermen and winemakers have always coexisted in perfect harmony\, creating a deep bond between land and sea that is also reflected in its winemaking expression. This millennia-old legacy\, rooted in classical times\, is placed at the heart of the now-well-established summer event in the Cirò region by the Cirò and Melissa Protection Consortium\, chaired by Carlo Siciliani. The Cirò Wine Festival returns for its 2026 edition on the traditional date of August 10 with a grand community celebration at the Madonna di Mare venue\, transforming the Mercati Saraceni into a grand agora that celebrates Cirò’s producers and the cultural value of wine and its indigenous expressions. \nFollowing the granting of the Cirò DOCG designation — the first in the history of Calabrian wine\, the relationship between tradition and evolution is being strengthened through a synergistic partnership between young winemakers—who are increasingly driving the production scene—and the historic wineries that have played a vital role in both the past and present of the region’s winemaking history. “We are a diverse yet cohesive production system that promotes native grape varieties\, preserves the vineyard landscape\, and presents itself to the world with an authentic\, unified voice—especially at an event like the Cirò Wine Festival\, during which wineries open their doors to the many wine lovers\, enthusiasts\, and tourists who flock to the area in large numbers during the summer months.” \nThe vineyards shape the landscape of the hills\, sloping down to the sea\, creating a harmonious scene that\, through the community of winemakers\, brings together identity and the future. \nCirò Wine Festival 2026\nThe 2026 Cirò Wine Festival is set to be a true celebration of the region: enriching this year’s edition are wine tours that will allow enthusiasts to engage directly with the wineries ahead of the grand finale on August 10 in the picturesque setting of the Mercati Saraceni in Madonna di Mare\, featuring music by Hosteria di Giò and DJ sets by Gregor Salto and Adam Clay. \nThe festival is a one-of-a-kind narrative experience that combines knowledge of the region with experiential tourism\, the promotion of the local community\, and a celebration of identity—all through an event that is renewed each year and pays tribute to Calabria’s iconic wine at the height of its institutional recognition. \nFacebook www.facebook.com/Consorzio-Vini-Cirò \nWebsite: www.consorzioviniciroemelissa.it
