DESCRIPTION:A Fall Full of Events for the Collio Consortium: Collio Evolution\, the appellation’s major institutional event\, returns with its second edition dedicated to Pinot Grigio\nA busy fall is underway for the Consorzio Tutela Vini Collio\, which is showcasing the region and its wines from the harvest—now drawing to a close—through the major events of the coming months\, both in Italy and abroad\, with Collio Evolution serving as the highlight of the year. \nThe 2026 Grape Harvest in Collio\nThe 2026 grape harvest in Collio is now drawing to a close. Having begun before mid-August\, it was the earliest on record for the region since 2003: the harvest began with the earliest-ripening varieties\, Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon\, followed by Friulano\, Malvasia Istriana\, and Ribolla Gialla\, and is now wrapping up with the red grapes. \nThe lack of rain for most of the summer and the heat waves—which occurred mainly just before harvest—affected yields in some areas and for certain varieties\, also impacting the analytical parameters of the grapes; in some cases\, this resulted in higher sugar concentrations and lower acidity. The rains\, though late\, have nevertheless improved the overall picture: the quality of the musts today bodes well for wines of excellent quality. \n“We haven’t started harvesting this early since 2003\,” says President Luca Raccaro\, “and that alone says a lot about how the climate is changing the way we work in the vineyard. A rainless summer and heat waves just before the harvest affected yields and\, in some cases\, the balance between sugar and acidity; the rains\, though late\, ultimately restored the overall picture. Today we look at the musts in the cellar with confidence: the conditions are right for wines of excellent quality.” \nCollio Evolution 2026\nÈ  Collio Evolution  the cornerstone around which much of the Consortium’s work revolves:  From October 24 to 26\, the event returns for its second edition in Cormons\, in the City Hall at 22 Piazza XXIV Maggio\, the same venue as last year. Established in 2025\, it is the appellation’s flagship event: the place where the region showcases itself and engages in dialogue with the press and industry professionals. The title chosen for 2026\,  “Beyond the Grape Variety. From the Vineyard to the Glass: The Essence of Pinot Grigio’s Identity”\, also indicates the grape variety to which this edition is dedicated: Pinot Grigio\, seen as a gateway to the region’s soils\, microclimates\, and winemaking practices. \nOver the course of the three-day event\, the Consortium expects more than 50 Italian and international journalists. The event will be preceded by a press tour reserved for foreign journalists invited by Collio Evolution\, who will arrive from the United States\, Brazil\, Poland\, Austria\, the UK\, Canada\, and the Netherlands to experience the region before the event. \n“We’re delighted about this press tour because it gives foreign journalists the chance to really get to know our region even before the event begins\,” says Lavinia Zamaro\, Director of the Collio Consortium. \nProgram\nThe program kicks off on Saturday with a masterclass dedicated to Collio Pinot Grigio. \nNext up is the conference featuring the presentation of the second part of the Nomisma study\, this time focused on the Horeca sector. \nA second masterclass is scheduled for Sunday morning\, followed by a walk-around tasting with the producers. A technical tasting dedicated to various interpretations and vintages of Pinot Grigio is also reserved for the press. \n“Collio Evolution is the moment when the appellation takes stock of itself: from technical tastings to an analysis of research data\, all the way to direct dialogue with producers.
