SUMMARY:Strevi - Slow Walk in the Valley of Passiti
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, June 7\, 2026\, the “Slow Walk” returns to Strevi\, in the Valley of the Passiti: The route in stages\, among vineyards\, tastings and meetings with producers to discover the Moscato Passito di Strevi DOC\nOn Sunday\, June 7\, 2026\, the “Slow Walk” returns to Strevi\, an event dedicated to the discovery of Moscato Passito di Strevi DOC and the landscape of the Bagnario Valley. Now in its 23rd edition\, the event represents a consolidated moment for the area\, capable of combiningfood and wine experience\, storytelling and local enhancement. \nOrganized by the Associazione Produttori Moscato Passito Valle Bagnario (Bagnario Valley Moscato Passito Producers Association)\, the walk takes place among the vine-covered hills recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site\, fitting into a context of growing attention to forms of experiential tourism\, in which time\, landscape and the relationship with producers become central elements. The initiative represents an opportunity to discover one of the lesser-known expressions of Piedmont wine-growing\, through a format that is accessible but at the same time deeply rooted in the territory. \nThe Moscato Passito of Strevi DOC\nMoscato Passito di Strevi has its roots in more than a thousand years of history\, when Moscato Bianco was cultivated in the Bagnario Valley to produce mass wine by natural drying in the sun. An ancient technique\, today considered among the longest-lived oenological practices in Piedmont. Over time\, this tradition has been handed down and refined thanks to the efforts of local winemakers\, until it obtained in 2000\, recognition as a Slow Food Presidium\, and in 2005\, the “Strevi” Controlled Denomination of Origin\, which came under the protection of the Asti DOCG Consortium in 2024. The Associazione Produttori Moscato Passito Valle Bagnario\, founded in 2004 by a small collective of historic winemakers\, is now an active presidium in the protection and promotion of this tradition and the landscape that hosts it. \nThe production of Moscato Passito di Strevi follows an artisanal and sustainable supply chain. Vineyards at least five years old are cultivated according to the principles of integrated cultivation\, which balances manual labor\, mechanization and targeted treatments to reduce environmental impact. After the selected harvest between August and September\, the best bunches are placed on traditional stagere for natural drying in the sun\, protected from nighttime humidity. The process\, which can last from 20 to 40 days\, results in the grapes losing more than 60 percent of their weight\, concentrating their aromas and sugars. \nDrying is followed by soft crushing and manual pressing to extract the must\, which ferments slowly with some of the skins. After at least two years of aging\, the wine can be bottled as Strevi DOC\, but it also continues to evolve in the bottle\, developing increasing complexity over time. \nThe program of the “Slow Walk”\nThe “Passeggiata Slow” winds its way along an itinerary of about 3 km among the vineyards and views of the Bagnario Valley\, divided into six gastronomic stops curated by the participating wineries: Bagnario di Ivaldi Giampaolo\, Bragagnolo Vini Passiti\, Ca di Cicul di Salina\, Cà du Rüja di Roglia Domenico\, Azienda Agricola Marenco and the Azienda Agricola Oddone Prati. Each stop is conceived as a moment of meeting and tasting\, in which Moscato Passito di Strevi DOC – the protagonist of the initiative – is flanked by a selection of other wines from the wineries\, paired with gastronomic proposals. Among the most evocative points of the route\, there is also a stop at the scenic yellow “Big Bench\,” overlooking the Monferrato landscape\, which returns a wide and immersive view of the territory. \nThe meeting and departure are scheduled from 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.\, located in Strevi at Bagnario Region no. 16 (junction of Valle Bagnario and Valle Pineto). At the start check-point it will be possible to submit registration\, make payment and collect coupons to be handed out at each stage. The event will end by 6 p.m. Parking will be available near the start. \nThe participation fee is 35€ and includes for each gastronomic stop a dish\, a wine proposal from the producer and a tasting of Moscato Passito. Participation is free for children under 8 years old. \nSeating is limited; reservations are required by June 1 through Eventbrite. \nInformation is available by writing to vinipassitivallebagnario@gmail.com. \nThe event is sponsored by the City of Strevi and the Asti DOCG Consortium\, in collaboration with the Slow Food Presidium\, the Slow Food Condotta of Gavi and Ovada.
