SUMMARY:Sardinia - Passi di Gusto 2026
DESCRIPTION:Sardinia: “Passi di Gusto” Returns as Part of “Week End in Cammino”: Four Days on Foot Amid Flavors\, Wine\, and Landscapes\nOn October 10 and 11\, and October 31 and November 1\, the Santa Barbara Mining Trail in Sardinia will once again become a culinary journey. The route will also include the Carignano Trails\, one year after their official launch \nFollowing the success of its first edition\, “Passi di Gusto\,” a project by the Santa Barbara Mining Trail Foundation \, returns in 2026 . The goal is to transform the trail into an experience that combines hiking\, culture\, food and wine\, and encounters with local producers and communities. \nThe second edition of the festival will take place on the weekends of October 10–11 and October 31–November 1. Four days dedicated to exploring southwestern Sardinia through walking tours\, local specialties\, wines\, traditions\, and iconic sites along the Santa Barbara Mining Trail. \nThe Program \nIt kicks off on Saturday\, October 10\, in Buggerru\, with a loop route that will also pass through the Henry Tunnel. The day will focus on the sea\, fishing\, and wine\, featuring chef Francesco Stara and pastry chef Gabriele Giambastiani. \nOn Sunday\, October 11\, it will be Villacidro’s turn\, with the event starting at the racetrack and featuring a looped route that will take participants on a journey of discovery through the local area. Chef Raffaele Altamura from the Hotel Management School\, along with the leaders of the workshops dedicated to olive oil\, honey\, and bread\, will showcase traditional local products through their cooking. The Agricultural Institute will serve as the central hub for the day’s events. \nThe third event\, on Saturday\, October 31\, will bring together two regions and two culinary traditions of the Basso Sulcis area. The journey will begin in Nuxis and end at the Santadi Winery\, along a route focused primarily on the culture of wine and olive oil. Chef Ivano Congiu will be in the kitchen\, joined by pastry chef Barbara Congiu. \nThe grand finale will take place on Sunday\, November 1\, in Carloforte\, at the Tonnare Piam\, with an event that begins at the harbor and weaves together the sea and the island’s traditions with the culture of wine and coral. Chefs Andrea Rosso and Cristiano Rosso will be the stars of the culinary lineup. \nBest Wishes to the Sentieri del Carignano \nIn October 2026\, the Sentieri del Carignano will “celebrate” its first anniversary. This walking food-and-wine tour\, created as part of the Santa Barbara Mining Trail\, was officially launched in September 2025 as a route dedicated to the relationship between the Sulcis landscape\, mining culture\, and Carignano del Sulcis DOC wine. \nSpanning twelve stages\, the Sentieri del Carignano trails now stretch over 200 kilometers through vineyards\, along the coast\, through villages\, past archaeological sites\, and past remnants of mining activity. They offer the chance to meet producers\, visit wineries\, and experience firsthand one of the most distinctive aspects of Sardinia’s wine-growing heritage. This past year has marked significant growth for the project\, which has expanded from its initial length of about 60 kilometers to its current length of over 200 kilometers\, accompanied by an intensive promotional campaign involving the entire community\, businesses\, and residents. \nThe Carignano Trails—a key part of the Sulcis region’s transformation into an authentic tourist destination and now synonymous with active tourism—took center stage in two press tours for the food and wine trade press Italian and international (A third press tour will take place in late October 2026) and have begun to gain increasing visibility in the world of wine tourism and slow tourism. The project has also been presented at the world’s leading wine events\, including Vinitaly and the Merano Wine Festival\, where he made his debut in 2025 with a master class dedicated to Carignano del Sulcis. \nIt is precisely this evolution that makes the second edition of Passi di Gusto particularly significant: some of its routes will intersect with the Sentieri del Carignano\, linking two projects that share a common goal— to showcase the region through the direct experience of walking and its food and wine heritage. Passi di Gusto thus becomes a new opportunity to discover the Sulcis region at a leisurely pace: not just a simple hike\, but a journey through the landscape\, the history of mining\, the vineyards\, and the flavors of an authentic Sardinia\, where every step can become an encounter and every product a story of the region. \nUseful Information\nThe detailed program for the second edition and information on how to participate are available here: https://www.cmsb.it/it/Passi-di-gusto-2026
