Giampaolo Gravina passed away suddenly

Giampaolo Gravina

Giampaolo Gravina passed away last night. Such a sudden and untimely loss of a friend and colleague has greatly affected all of us at DoctorWine.

Giampaolo Gravina passed away last night. A graduate in Philosophy with Emilio Garroni, he was a longtime collaborator of Prof. Edoardo Ferrario for the chair of Aesthetics at Sapienza University. He has been involved in wine for more than 20 years: he opened a wine bar in Rome (Uno e bino), hosted a column on Radio3 Rai (Puri spiriti), and worked for 15 years as deputy editor of l’Espresso’s I Vini d’Italia Guide, until 2015.

He taught Wine Aesthetics at the Master in Wine Culture at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo and at the Master in Philosophy of Food and Wine at Vita & Salute University in Milan. With Camillo Favaro, he wrote the two editions of Wines and Lands of Burgundy (ArteVino); with Armando Castagno and Fabio Rizzari, after he published the books Vini da scoprire and La riscossa dei vini leggeri (Giunti) and a small repertory of Vini Artigianali Italiani (Paolo Buongiorno Editore).

Daniele Cernilli and the entire editorial staff of DoctorWine are dismayed by this loss and embrace his loved ones.
