What is striking about the Banfi company is its production rigor. All estate wines are very well executed and in their respective categories consistently rank among the best. Spikes do exist. In the appellation most closely associated with Montalcino, the Poggio alle Mura line, from the vineyards closest to the Castello, is gaining more and more interpretive confidence and a precise character where the concepts of modern do not distort tradition.
