Mamoiada Vives

Mamoiada Vives 2025

The preview tasting of wines from Mamoiada, in the heart of Sardinia, confirmed the steady quality growth of the area’s wines, showing two different production philosophies.

From May 11 to 13, on the premises of the Giuseppe Sedilesu Winery in Mamoiada. the sixth edition of Mamoiada Vives, the event showcasing the wines of new vintages from producers who are members of theMamojà association which brings together more than forty winemakers including over twenty bottlers.

Mamoiada Vives 2025 Dario Cappelloni and Luigi BuonannoAs for the Granazza di Mamoiada-based whites and the rosés the vintage taken into consideration was 2024 while for the Cannonau the 2022 and 2023.

Clear qualitative growth

The tasting of the 40 samples confirmed the constant growth in quality of the wines in terms of character and definition. Two basic production lines were observed: a more “modern” one in search of fresh and drinkable wines and with alcohol contents that rarely exceed 13 degrees and the result of earlier harvests and higher yields; the other more tied to tradition without, however, ignoring technical advances but not afraid of more alcoholic wines not least because the typical acidities of Mamoiada’s Cannonau are particularly incisive. All this only enriches and varies the offerings.

2022 and 2023, two difficult vintages

As for the vintages, 2022 (very hot and droughty) was handled with great expertise and presented fresh and gritty wines. However, 2023, a very difficult vintage from a climatic and sanitary point of view, offered extremely high-performing wines that further testified to the expertise of the winemakers of Mamoiada.

As evidence of this particularly interesting was the tasting of wines from producers who are not yet bottling that took place on the morning of May 13 with some truly amazing qualitative peaks that testify, if any were still needed, to the care and passion with which so many winemakers in this country of the Barbagia deal with viticulture.
