Alessandra Moneti, an ANSA journalist and contributor to the Terra&Gusto channel, has passed away. The food and wine journalism community has lost a professional who covered wine, cuisine, and the agri-food sector with a reporter’s curiosity and a constant focus on her sources.
Alessandra Moneti passed away this morning, Monday, October 5, after suddenly falling ill. The news took us by surprise—it was like a bucket of cold water. We had seen her just a few days ago at theIstituto Grandi Marchi eventin Rome.
Having joined ANSA at a very young age, she had dedicated her professional career to the agency, becoming one of the leading voices in its coverage of food and wine through the Terra&Gusto channel.
To remember her, we can start with the words she herself used to describe her craft. In an interview published in 2024 by the Paestum Wine Fest, she said: “I remain a reporter. Proudly, a reporter. Tenaciously curious.” A succinct statement that helps us understand her approach to the world of wine: seeking out a significant fact, a trend, or something worth bringing to readers’ attention in every story. This is a great loss to the world of food and wine journalism.
The DoctorWine editorial staff joins the family and colleagues at ANSA in expressing their condolences. She was not only a colleague but also a dear friend.
