Today, Saturday, October 3, marks the launch of the 13th edition of the Essential Guide to Italian Wines, and the day is divided into two parts:
– the awards ceremony, by invitation only, in the morning at the Teatro Manzoni,
– the afternoon tasting to meet the producers and discover some of Italy’s finest wines at the Hotel Principe di Savoia.
This year, the event is concentrated into a single day.
Dear readers, are you ready? Have you already made plans for this afternoon? We’ll be waiting for you at theHotel Principe di Savoia for an event that, year after year, gives us the chance to get together and share our passion for wine.
The occasion is the presentation of the Essential Guide to Italian Wines 2027. Authored by Daniele Cernilli and produced in collaboration with the DoctorWine tasting team. After months of tastings and editorial work, the time has come to savor a selection of approximately 600 reviewed wines and to meet the people who produce them.
A day dedicated to wine tastings
This year, the Milan tasting will take place only today, Saturday, October 3, from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Featuring 200 producers. Just one afternoon, then, to create your own journey through the tasting stations, guided by curiosity, a favorite appellation, or the desire to discover something new.
You can compare different regions, grape varieties, and styles, revisit a wine that caught your attention. Or ask the staff at the counter for recommendations. The beauty of these experiences also lies in the freedom to choose: everyone has their own tastes, their own questions, and a wine they’ve been wanting to try.
Wine and the People Who Make It
Alongside the tastings, there will be conversations with winemakers and sommeliers. Asking about a vintage, understanding the characteristics of a vineyard. Delving into a winery’s selection: these are opportunities to put what we find in the glass into context and to better understand the work that goes into every bottle.
For us, this is also an opportunity to meet with you. Our readers, hear your thoughts, and share the discoveries we’ve made while putting together this new edition of the Guide. We look forward to seeing you for an afternoon of tastings, conversations, and interesting tidbits.
