Assaggi 2026: The fifth edition of the Salone dell’Enogastronomia Laziale is back with two special guests: Claudio Amendola, famous actor here in the role of restaurateur, and gastronome and TV personality Giorgione
From May 16 to 18, 2026 Viterbo will host the fifth edition of Assaggi – Salone dell’Enogastronomia Laziale, scheduled in the prestigious setting of the Complex of Santa Maria in Gradi.
With the fifth edition, Assaggi consolidates its role as a platform for promotion and development for Lazio’s agrifood enterprises, offering a qualified showcase to present products of excellence to a public, of professionals in the sector and good food enthusiasts, increasingly attentive to quality, sustainability and territorial identity. The 2026 event thus promises to be a central moment in the calendar of major events dedicated to food and wine, capable of strengthening Lazio’s position in the national panorama of taste tourism.
An event dedicated to the enhancement of the territory
The event-organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Rieti Viterbo, with the contribution of the Chamber of Commerce of Rome and the Municipality of Viterbo, with the participation of the University of Tuscia, the Lazio Region and CREA, and in partnership with Slow Food Viterbo and Tuscia, -is confirmed as a landmark event for the enhancement of the regional agri-food heritage and as a strategic moment for the tourism promotion of the area.
For three days Viterbo will become the capital of Lazio’s taste with the aim of telling the richness, quality and productive identity of the region, welcoming selected companies from the agri-food sector, show cooking with protagonists of regional food and wine, sensory experiences and guided tastings, as well as talks and discussion moments.
An experience for audiences and professionals
The show offers the public of enthusiasts and conscious consumers a direct and engaging experience, with the opportunity to taste and purchase products directly from producers.
Industry professionals, horeca operators, buyers, journalists, bloggers and food lovers, will be able to get up close and personal with Lazio’s excellence, meet producers and delve into the entrepreneurial stories that make the region’s food and wine offerings unique, with access reserved for them on Monday, May 18.
For food & beverage professionals, admission is free, subject to registration. For the general public, the admission ticket is converted into a voucher that can be spent at one of the producers at the show during the event.
The special guests: Claudio Amendola and Giorgione
As many as two will be the special guests of the 5th edition: Claudio Amendola, acclaimed actor, but also restaurateur with his Roman osteria where he offers a “cucina de coccio” in homage to his Roman-ness and to the culinary tradition of all of Lazio; and Giorgione, famous TV personality, but first and foremost a cook who calls himself an almost veterinarian, a lover of nature, its products and beautiful and good things.
The setting of the Complex of Santa Maria in Gradi
Hosting the event for the second time will be the Complex of Santa Maria in Gradi, a symbolic place in Viterbo’s history. The ancient convent complex, of medieval origin, represents one of the most significant examples of religious architecture in the city. Characterized by large interior spaces, evocative cloisters and rooms of great historical charm, the complex combines monumentality and functionality, offering a setting of extraordinary impact. The choice of this location strengthens the link between cultural heritage and food and wine promotion, enhancing a site of great identity in the heart of Tuscia.
Show cooking, tastings and meetings
Alongside the exhibition area in the cloisters, Assaggi 2026 will offer an articulated calendar of initiatives designed to tell the story of Lazio through its flavors and traditions. The various spaces of the Complex of Santa Maria in Gradi will host show cooking with protagonists of regional food and wine, sensory experiences and guided tastings presentations of products and producers, as well as moments of discussion with insiders. A narrative and taste journey that will explore the variety of Lazio’s productions, from the craftsmanship of small businesses to more structured realities, in a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation.
“Outside Taste”: events spread across the territory.
But it doesn’t end there. The event will also extend beyond the spaces of the Salone thanks to the “Fuori Assaggi” format, which will involve the city and the villages of the territory in a widespread calendar of initiatives. Aperitifs and dinners dedicated to tasting, meetings with producers and visits to wineries will offer the opportunity to live a complete experience discovering Lazio’s food and wine heritage, integrating the event with the tourist and cultural offerings of the territory and encouraging visitors to stay.
