From September 24 to 27, 2026, Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, the major international event dedicated to good, clean, and fair food and food policies, organized by Slow Food, the City of Turin, and the Piedmont Region, returns to Turin.
The 2026 edition coincides with the 40th anniversary of Slow Food Italia and focuses on the theme “Biodiversity – Be Diversity, ” interpreting biodiversity not only as the protection of biological and agricultural diversity, but also as cultural, gastronomic, and social wealth.
For four days, Turin’s historic center becomes the heart of a major international gathering of producers, food communities, chefs, artisans, experts, and visitors, with the large Terra Madre market spreading out across the squares and streets of the city center. Among the main areas involved are Piazza San Carlo, Piazza Castello, Piazza Carlo Alberto, Piazza CLN, Via Roma, and Piazza Vittorio, along with numerous other locations throughout the city.
The Terra Madre Market
The market is one of the highlights of the event and brings together hundreds of Italian and international producers, selected for their commitment to protecting biodiversity and promoting their local regions. The theme of biodiversity takes on a particularly broad significance in 2026. The slogan “Biodiversity – Be Diversity” invites us to view diversity as a value worth protecting in all its forms: the diversity of ecosystems and crops, but also the diversity of knowledge, cultures, and communities.
The 16th edition also serves as an opportunity to reflect on Slow Food Italy’s 40-year history, through initiatives that trace the history of the association and its main projects, including the Ark of Taste, the Slow Food Presidia, and the Slow Food Alliance of Chefs.
Events celebrating this anniversary include meetings and talks hosted, among other venues, at the Gallerie d’Italia andthe Auditorium Reale Mutua, featuring prominent figures from the worlds of culture, food, and social activism.

Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is the centerpiece of a much broader journey.
The Road to Terra Madre project complements the event with activities organized in Italy and around the world, while Terra Madre Off, from September 21 to 28, features initiatives, meetings, and experiences in various locations throughout Turin and Piedmont.
The event in Turin thus becomes the culmination of a journey that has involved the international Slow Food network and the communities working daily to defend biodiversity and promote more sustainable food systems for months.
