A historic winery that Marinetta Boscarelli took over almost suddenly, but with determination and clear ideas. The first wines are already convincing and hint at an interesting future. Daniele Cernilli tells us about them.
Marinetta Boscarelli found herself having to take overAgricola Giuntabosca, a family winery somewhat out of the blue, but she took to it with commitment and stubbornness. The initial results are very interesting, and even with all the caution due to the young age of the winery in her management, some of the wines are already good and promising.
In the vineyard he has mainly Aglianico and Greco, then some allochthonous grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Chardonnay. There is also some Nero d’Avola, a grape variety we know as Sicilian but which is also called Calabrese: something to do with Calabria, then, it may indeed have.
The vineyards-a total of about 14 hectares-have a southwest to west exposure and grow at 300 meters of altitude, on sandy-loam soils dating back to ancient floodplain dunes of the Crati River. The training system is spurred cordon, with a density of 3500-4000 vines per hectare.
We are in Bisignano, in the province of Cosenza, in the northern part of the region, after Montalto Uffugo. An area almost halfway between the Tyrrhenian and Ionian seas. In short, the first wines are already good and the future seems to smile on Marinetta’s efforts. Best of luck to her from us.
