A Hundred Years of Bardolino

October 9 - October 11

Wine, 100 Years of Bardolino: Celebrations for the consortium’s centennial kick off on October 9 with tastings, art, and cultural exchanges

A century of history, looking toward the future. From October 9 to 11, the Bardolino Wine Consortium celebrates its first 100 years with three days dedicated to exploring one of Italy’s most popular wine appellations, featuring tastings, in-depth discussions, and artistic collaborations.

Comprising events reserved for the press and those open to the public, the Centennial program will center on the talk “Let’s Look Ahead – Wine: Thinking ‘Top’ and Planning ‘Pop’” (Saturday at 11 a.m., Garda Convention Center), a session entirely dedicated to the theme of value creation, featuring an open dialogue among key figures from the worlds of wine, hospitality, business, and culture. The event will begin with an analysis by Carlo Flamini, head of the UIV Observatory, focusing on consumer trends—starting with new ways of connecting with consumers—followed by remarks from the Consortium’s president, Fabio Dei Micheli, on the current state of the appellation and its new goals. Following this, the roundtable discussion will bring together the experiences of Andrea Amadei (The Art of Wine), Renato Bosco (Pizzeria Renato Bosco), artist Marco Lodola, Andrea Pernigo (Pernigo Group), Diego Rossi (Ristorante Trippa), and Margherita Tovo (Meracinque). The common thread: the success of “pop-to-top” strategies, capable of building identity, brand recognition, and a promising future.

Starting Saturday afternoon and continuing throughout Sunday (Saturday 5:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m., Sunday 11:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.), the Villa Carrara Bottagisio Park (Bardolino, VR) will be transformed into the Bardolino Pop Garden, a tasting event open to the public and inspired by the pairing of wine and art, organized by the Bardolino Wine Consortium and part of the Art Verona program. Here, visitors will not only be able to taste wines from the appellation and enjoy pairings curated by Renato Bosco’s Cruncheria, but also stroll among Marco Lodola’s luminous artworks, accompanied by DJ sets and live music.

The Centennial will kick off on Friday with a program reserved for the Italian and international trade press, during which journalists will participate in in-depth masterclasses and meetings with producers.

Active since 1926, the Bardolino Wine Consortium represents and protects the Bardolino DOC designation, which encompasses several historic wine types from the Veronese Lake Garda region: Bardolino, a red wine made from the Veneto’s premier native grape variety, Corvina Veronese, and Chiaretto di Bardolino, Italy’s premier rosé wine. With a vineyard area of 2,400 hectares—1,000 of which are dedicated to Chiaretto—the 2026 vintage yields a production of approximately 20 million bottles, divided equally between the Bardolino and Chiaretto DOPs.
