AIES is celebrating its 25th anniversary with a large wine tasting event in collaboration with the Independent Winemakers of FIVI: Sunday, October 25, in Bologna, a day dedicated to Italian wine, its regions, and its producers. Over 30 FIVI winemakers will be present
AIES, the International Academy of Food and Wine Sommeliers, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding with a wine tasting organized in collaboration with FIVI, the Italian Federation of Independent Winemakers. The event will take place on Sunday, October 25, from 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM, at the Savoia Hotel Regency in Bologna (Via del Pilastro 2).
25 Years Since the Founding of AIES
The event celebrates the 25th anniversary of AIES, founded in Bologna on October 26, 2001, and will bring together over 30 FIVI producers from various Italian regions. The winemakers will personally present their wineries and the wines available for tasting, sharing stories about the regions and production methods from which they originate. A day dedicated to Italian wine as an expression of identity, culture, and territory.
“This anniversary marks an important moment for AIES and for all those who, over the past 25 years, have contributed to the Academy’s growth. Celebrating it together with the FIVI winemakers means reaffirming the value of knowledge, direct dialogue with producers, culture, and the protection of the local territory,” says AIES President Patrizia Poli.
The Program
The program will also be enriched by the participation of APR, the Parmigiano Reggiano Tasters, who will present their activities and offer tastings of two different ages of Parmigiano Reggiano.
During the event, attendees will be able to taste wines freely at the winemakers’ booths and will also have the opportunity to purchase the wines they’ve tasted directly from the producers. Upon entry, each participant will receive a wine glass pouch and an AIES-screen-printed wine glass.
The participation fee is 20 euros (free for AIES members). Reservations are required while seats are available; please email eventi@accademiasommeliers.it. If seats remain available, you may attend on the day of the event without a prior reservation.

The International Academy of Food, Wine, and Sommeliers (AIES)
The International Academy of Food and Wine Sommeliers (AIES) is a cultural association founded in Bologna in 2001, with its registered office in Casalecchio di Reno (BO). The Academy’s primary purpose is to promote and spread wine and food culture. Throughout its history, AIES has trained hundreds of Master Food and Wine Sommeliers. The Academy organizes courses for aspiring sommeliers, visits to wineries and farms, tastings, dinners, meetings with producers, and other initiatives dedicated to food and wine culture. The courses are aimed at professionals in the hospitality, restaurant, and catering industries, as well as those who wish to deepen their knowledge of wine and culinary culture for personal enjoyment. In addition to wine studies and food-wine pairing, the training program includes lessons dedicated to specific products and gastronomic themes, such as beer, chocolate, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, cured meats, and cheeses. AIES presents this multidisciplinary approach as one of the defining features of its educational program. Alongside its educational activities, AIES provides sommelier services to businesses and organizations upon request, including wine shops, restaurants, wineries, and associations. In 2019, AIES was granted legal entity status.
