It is from this vision that “Calici in Borgo” takes shape , the wine festival that, from July 31 to August 2, 2026, will once again bring the Antico Borgo of Porta di Olevano sul Tusciano—in the heart of the Picentini Mountains—to life, reaffirming its status as one of the most interesting food and wine events of the summer in Southern Italy.

Now in its second consecutive year, the festival is the result of the effortsof APS I MULINI, chaired by Vincenzo Cicatelli, and a shared commitment to making wine a powerful tool for promoting the region. A project that, right from its debut, won over both the public and industry professionals, drawing over 5,000 visitors in just two days during the 2025 edition.

By 2026, the event will have grown in size, content, and prestige.

More than 100 wines will be featured, presented by 50 wineries from all over Italy, which will showcase their regions directly to visitors, industry professionals, restaurateurs, sommeliers, and wine tourism operators.

The real novelty, however, will be the festival’s international expansion.

For the first time, French and Spanish wineries will also be participating in Calici in Borgo, fostering a dialogue among some of Europe’s most important wine-growing cultures. This exchange will enrich the audience’s experience and help raise the event’s profile on the national stage.

“Calici in Borgo” is not just a series of wine tastings.

It is a journey through wine as a universal language, capable of bringing together producers and enthusiasts, regions and traditions, innovation and history. For three days, the ancient stone-paved streets of the Borgo di Porta, its alleys, squares, and panoramic views transform into a vast open-air wine cellar, where every tasting table tells a story and every glass holds the history of a land.

A concept that taps into one of the most significant trends in contemporary tourism: that of travelers who seek authenticity, experiences, and local identity.

In this scenario, Olevano sul Tusciano plays a strategic role.

Located in a prime spot between the Amalfi Coast and the Cilento National Park, the village serves as a natural gateway to the inland areas of the province of Salerno. Its proximity to the Battipaglia highway exit—just seven kilometers away—and to the Salerno-Costa d’Amalfi Airport—about ten kilometers away—makes the festival easily accessible even to visitors from other regions and abroad.

This central geographic location translates into a real opportunity for tourism development.

The organizers’ stated goal is, in fact, to transform “Calici in Borgo” into a hub for wine tourism in inland areas, demonstrating how even small villages can play a leading role in a cultural offering capable of attracting a discerning audience and spreading tourist traffic throughout the year.

It is no coincidence that the event is sponsored by the Campania Region, the Province of Salerno, the Municipality of Olevano sul Tusciano, the Salerno Chamber of Commerce, and CNA Salerno—institutions that have recognized the festival as an important opportunity to promote the region and its outstanding products.

Among the project’s founders is the mayor of Olevano sul Tusciano and provincial councilor, Dr. Michele Ciliberti, who from the very beginning believed in wine’s potential to become a tool for local development and for promoting the town’s historical and cultural heritage.

From sunset until late at night, amid the stone-paved alleys of the Antico Borgo di Porta, wine will serve as the common thread of a story that spans lands, people, and cultures. For three days, Olevano sul Tusciano will offer visitors an experience that combines wine tasting, scenic beauty, hospitality, and local identity, demonstrating how the future of wine tourism can also emerge from small villages when the quality of hospitality meets the power of a shared vision.
