Change in the Consortium’s operational leadership. Sienese manager Guglielmo Ascheri, who succeeds Andrea Machetti, brings soft skills and strategic vision.
Change at the Brunello Consortium
The Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino has a new director: he is Guglielmo Ascheri, appointed by the board of directors. He takes over from Andrea Machetti, who led the structure until the end of 2025.
An “out of wine” profile
A native of Siena with more than 15 years in the sports business, Ascheri – who has a degree in economics and an international master’s degree in sports event strategy – comes from a background not strictly related to the wine sector. An element that the Consortium reads as an opportunity to open new synergies and strengthen the positioning of the denomination.
Objective: to strengthen the Brunello brand
Among the priorities is the development and enhancement of Brunello di Montalcino in international markets. Ascheri himself speaks of an assignment “of great responsibility,” to be tackled by bringing together managerial skills and ties with the territory.
The official statements
President Giacomo Bartolommei stresses that his joining represents “a valuable contribution” to broadening the Consortium’s prospects and strengthening the prestige of the denomination.
Guglielmo Ascheri speaks of “great honor and responsibility,” with the goal of contributing to the growth and enhancement of Brunello di Montalcino internationally.
