Wine, IMT: Michele Bernetti confirmed as president

Michele Bernetti Presidente IMT

Michele Bernetti (Umani Ronchi) has been confirmed as the head of the Marche Institute for the Protection of Wines (IMT).

IMT is the leading consortium in the Marche region, which has about 500 members, 16 protected appellations and 89 percent of bottled wine in its area. Joining Michele Bernetti are vice presidents Antonio Centocanti (Cantine Belisario) and Mauro Quacquarini(Quacquarini).

Twenty-five additions to the new IMT Board of Directors, which changed its structure by more than a third of the appointments. Oenologist Alberto Mazzoni was confirmed as director of the consortium.

Michele Bernetti’s comment

The renewed Board of Directors,” said Imt President Michele Bernetti. is a mirror of a changing denomination, with a mix of young – and growing – board members, small producers and prestigious newcomers. The same can be said for the entrepreneurial fabric in our territory, until recently highly concentrated on a few companies. The well-known recent vicissitudes may paradoxically prove decisive for the change of gear of a vocated area such as ours, which has a duty to make the value of its harvest fully perceived. We are facing – added Bernetti – to a future full of responsibility, in which the Consortium will have to focus on a renewed supply-demand relationship, managing potential in a way that is elastic and appropriate to an international trend that is increasingly oriented toward quality choices at the expense of volume. The new course of Imt and its enterprises will start from this awareness.”
