“In Montefalco” 2026: International press and industry professionals in the heart of wine Umbria April 26-28. Among the most anticipated appointments the Grand Prix of Sagrantino, Etichetta d’Autore and Masterclass with Master of Wine Cristina Mercuri
Montefalco welcomes the national and international press and trade operators on the occasion of “A Montefalco,” the initiative promoted by the Consorzio Tutela Vini Montefalco scheduled from April 26 to 28, dedicated to the vintages on the market of wines produced in the territories of the Montefalco and Spoleto appellations and the new vintage of Montefalco Sagrantino Docg.
The event represents an exclusive opportunity for in-depth study and tasting to get up close and personal with the oenological identity of an area that is a symbol of wine Umbria. The articulated program will involve journalists and industry professionals among technical tastings, master classes and winery visits.
The program
The heart of the initiative will be the tasting room, where it will be possible to taste the current vintages of the territory’s main appellations. These will include Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG dry and passito, Montefalco Rosso DOC, Montefalco Rosso Riserva DOC, Montefalco Bianco DOC, Montefalco Grechetto DOC, Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino DOC, Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino Superiore DOC, Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino Spumante DOC, Spoleto Trebbiano Spoletino Passito DOC, along with the new vintage of Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, namely 2022.
Among the most anticipated events is the Masterclass led by Master of Wine Cristina Mercuri . It will be dedicated to thecontemporary interpretation of Montefalco wines and their role in international gastronomy. The Masterclass is scheduled for Monday, April 27, at 6 p.m.
On Tuesday, April 28 at 9 a.m., at the San Francesco Museum Complex, the presentation of the 2022 vintage and the producers participating in “A Montefalco” 2026. Speakers, coordinated by journalist Jacopo Cossater, will include the mayor of Montefalco Alfredo Gentili, journalist Ian D’Agata, president of the External Commission for the evaluation of the vintage, Paolo Bartoloni, president of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Montefalco, Sandro Camilli, president of AIS Italia, Simona Meloni, agriculture councillor of the Umbria Region, and Stefania Proietti, president of the Umbria Region.
The program also includes moments of comparison and in-depth analysis dedicated to Montefalco’s wine culture. These include the “Gran Premio del Sagrantino,” the national competition dedicated to sommeliers from all over Italy, who will compete in the communication and promotion of Sagrantino through tastings, pairings and technical tests related to service and the wine list. Great attention will also be devoted to the presentation of theEtichetta d’Autore, the artistic work created each year to celebrate the new vintage of Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG. For the 2026 edition, the label dedicated to the 2022 vintage will be presented, a symbol of the dialogue between wine, art and territory.
In parallel with the tastings and institutional meetings, wineries in the area will open their doors to journalists and operators. The program includes a series of initiatives aimed at journalists, restaurateurs, wine merchants, sommeliers and professionals in the wine chain, dedicated to the direct discovery of wineries and places of production.

There will be 31 companies participating in the 2026 edition: Agricola Mevante, Antonelli, Arnaldo Caprai, Bocale, Cesarini-Sartori, Colle Ciocco, Colle Uncinano, Còlpetrone, Di Filippo, Dionigi, Fongoli, Goretti – Fattoria Le Mura Saracene, La Veneranda, Le Cimate, Lungarotti, Montioni, Moretti Omero, Ninni, Perticaia, Romanelli, Scacciadiavoli, Tenuta Alzatura, Tenuta Bellafonte, Tenuta di Saragano, Tenute Lunelli – Carapace, Terre de la Custodia, Terre de’ Trinci, Terre di San Felice, Tudernum and Valdangius.
