November 7

Wine and the local area: In Mercato Saraceno, it’s time for “Calici e crinali.” On Saturday, November 7—World Wine Tourism Day—wineries will open their doors for tastings paired with local foods and products. Restaurants will offer special dishes and menus, and there will be immersive hikes through the Savio Valley.

Saraceno Market is ready to raise a toast with its wineries on World Wine Tourism Day, the international event promoted by RECEVIN—the European Network of Wine Cities—in collaboration with the Wine Cities Associations of member countries. For this occasion, which brings together hundreds of European and global wine-producing regions in a single grand celebration of wine culture, the landscape, and the communities that preserve it, the first edition of “Calici e Crinali” will take place on Saturday, November 7 —a day dedicated to discovering the region’s finest wines and the winemakers behind them, organized with the support of the Municipality of Mercato Saraceno.

The Tasting Schedule

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the wineries of Mercato Saraceno will open their doors to offer tastings of Famoso, Sangiovese, Albana, and other local wines, paired with delicacies prepared by restaurants and culinary artisans from the Savio Valley.

At the Castello di Montesasso winery, the wine tasting will be accompanied by a selection of local culinary delights, while at Cantina Braschi, small bites featuring bread, cured meats, and cheeses from the Apennines will be served. Cappelletti with ragù and piadina with artisanal porchetta from Griglio Vagando will accompany the wine tasting at Podere Vertaglia, while cappelletti in Romagna IGP beef broth and organic chickpea soup from the local restaurant D’Antan will be served at Tenuta Casali, where wines from Podere Montepaderno will also be available for tasting.
