Portoscuso – Calici in Tonnara 2026

Calici in Tonnara 2026: Sardinian wine meets history at one of Sardinia’s oldest tuna fisheries
There is a place in Sardinia where the scent of the sea meets that of wine. A place where the history of tuna fishing intertwines with the finest wines of the island. It isthe Antica Tonnara Su Pranu in Portoscuso, one of Sardinia’s oldest tuna traps. From July 3 to 5, it will host the seventh edition of Calici in Tonnara, a festival that transforms an important industrial archaeological site into a stage dedicated to the region’s finest products.
More than just a food and wine festival, Calici in Tonnara is a cultural promotion project . It highlights Sardinia’s tangible and intangible heritage. This event invites the public to embark on a journey through landscapes, traditions, and exceptional local products, showcasing the island not only through its wines but also through the places that preserve its history.
Program
For three consecutive evenings, more than 30 wineries from all over Sardinia will bring some of the region’s most representative wines to Portoscuso. They will offer visitors the opportunity to discover different regions, grape varieties, and stories: from Carignano del Sulcis to the great reds and whites from the island’s other wine-growing areas.
The tastings will be accompanied by dishes prepared by three selected chefs. There will also be live music performances and opportunities to meet the producers, as part of an experiential journey that highlights the connection between wine culture, gastronomy, and the landscape.
The Ancient Su Pranu Tonnara
The choice of the Antica Tonnara Su Pranu is no coincidence. This historic complex is one of the symbols of the maritime identity of southwestern Sardinia. It bears witness to centuries of tuna fishing, now reinterpreted through an event that breathes new life into a site of great historical and scenic value.
At a time when experiential tourism and the promotion of historic villages are among the country’s main avenues of development, Calici in Tonnara offers a model in which cultural heritage becomes the heart of the experience. It is not merely a venue for an event, but a place that helps convey its meaning.
