Volta Mantovana – Mostra Nazionale dei Vini Passiti e da Meditazione

April 25, 2025 @ 11:00 - April 27, 2025 @ 20:00

Passito and Meditation Wines, a heritage to be safeguarded and enhanced. This is the goal of the 21st Mostra Nazionale dei Vini Passiti e da Meditazione, the only national event entirely dedicated to these productions.

The event

They are the fruit of a millenary culture, interpreting the vocation of different territories, the knowledge of man and the talent of vines, often indigenous. They are the Passito and Meditation Wines, protagonists of the 21st National Exhibition of Volta Mantovana organized by the Municipality of Volta Mantovana in collaboration with ONAV Mantova. In the splendid Palazzo Gonzaga, many regions will be represented by a selection of more than 100 labels.

The tasting desk and all guided tastings will be curated by ONAV Mantova and will allow visitors to discover wines that have become famous, such as Passito di Pantelleria, Aleatico dell’Elba, Vino Santo Trentino, Montefalco Sagrantino Passito, Moscato di Scanzo and many other wine pearls characterizing Italy.

Innovation

This year’s kermesse opens with two unprecedented events that will introduce globally famous wines through a number of guided seminars. Thus, foreign oenology will accompany Italian oenology, under the banner of a culture of the migrating man, an invitation to get to know and establish a relationship with new territories.

The literary event: a window to the world, Château d’Yquem the Legend, is the meeting on Friday 25 at 3:30 p.m. with writer and gastronome Cinzia Benzi, author of the book Yquem. Moderated by ONAV Expert Taster Matteo Battisti, Cinzia Benzi will virtually open the doors of France’s most legendary winery with a book presentation and a tasting of the iconic Yquem wine.

Hungary Guest of Honor: In the garden of the Stables of Palazzo Gonzaga, the Hungarian Tasting Booth will be present throughout the event. A land of great wines, Hungary is famous first and foremost for Tokaji. On Saturday 26 at 6:30 p.m., a masterclass will be dedicated to this precious mildewed wine, curated by ONAV Expert Taster Matteo Battisti in collaboration and representation of the Consulate General of Hungary in Milan.

Finally, within the Mostra Mercato will be offered the opportunity to purchase wines directly from the producers present.

The event and the territory

The exhibition will take place entirely in the heart of the historic center of Volta Mantovana, inside the medieval castle, of which the towers and extensive parts of the walls are still preserved.During the Renaissance, with the construction of Palazzo Gonzaga, Volta became a summer retreat for the powerful Mantuan family. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover the village and Palazzo Gonzaga, which will open its doors and gardens with guided tours and figurants, to relive the charm of the Italian Renaissance.

Volta Mantovana is a magical village, where all historical eras have left precious testimonies: The frescoed halls, the decorated ceilings, the King’s bath room, the evocative Italian gardens, the ancient stables with the Gallery of the Warriors, the street that connects the Palace to the Towers and the Church Belvedere, paved with morainic pebbles.

Finally, the event will feature dedicated tasting menus designed by local restaurants participating in the initiative. Visitors will thus have the opportunity to try the cuisine and hospitality of Volta Mantovana.
