La Raia, signature hospitality in the heart of Gavi

La Raia, Il Borgo Interni Villa

Among biodynamic vineyards, woods, lakes and contemporary art installations, La Raia has transformed hospitality into an immersive experience in the Gavi landscape. The historic Locanda, a relais with Michelin Green Star restaurant, is now flanked by Il Borgo, an ancient farming village restored respecting the original architecture. A place where nature, wellness, cuisine and culture coexist in balance.

An ecosystem for living

The Borgo ApeRegina exterior
Lower Piedmont,
between Novi Ligure and Gavi, La Raia covers 200 hectares of vineyards, meadows, forests, lakes and pastures. The Rossi Cairo family, which has been running the estate since 2002, has built here a project based on biodynamics, the landscape protection and on environmental sustainability.

Hospitality stems precisely from this idea of harmony between man and nature. Guests can move along three indoor trails dedicated to wine, art and biodiversity, crossing rows of Cortese, forest trails and contemporary artworks scattered throughout the estate.

The Inn, relaxed elegance among the vineyards

La Raia Il Borgo Ape Regina dining room
Derived from an old post station, La Locanda is a relais of
twelve rooms surrounded by greenery. Each room is different: vintage Piedmontese furniture coexists with contemporary design, artwork and natural materials, creating a sophisticated yet casual atmosphere.

The restaurant of the Michelin Green Star-winning Locanda offers cuisine that weaves together Ligurian and Piedmontese traditions, enhancing the estate’s products: garden vegetables, ancient grains, organic honey and pasture-raised Fassona meat. At the helm of the gastronomic project are. Tommaso Arrigoni and resident chef Mirko Natali..

The offer is completed by the wellness area with a sauna, steam bath, indoor and outdoor pools and a gym overlooking the garden.

The Borgo, rural charm and privacy

La Raia, The Farmhouse Village
From 2026, the Raia’s hospitality expands with Il Borgo,
an ancient farming village restored according to conservative criteria and nestled in one of the most picturesque areas of the property.

Here are located The Villa and the Apartment Queen Bee, solutions designed for families and small groups, with fully equipped kitchens, independent spaces and an open view of vineyards and forests. The interiors echo the style of the Inn, among antique Piedmontese pieces, design and contemporary art.

The Borgo also preserves traces of the ancient pisé masonry, a raw earth technique also used in the Martin Rauch-designed cellar, and is home to one of the La Raia Foundation’s permanent installations, Ousser by Korean artist Koo Jeong A., which can only be seen at night.

Contemporary art and biodiversity

The Borgo Exterior Villa
Since 2013, the
La Raia Foundation – art culture territory invites international artists to engage with the Gavi landscape. Today the estate is home to eleven works site specific scattered among vineyards, gardens and forests.

The biodiversity itinerary instead traverses a natural mosaic populated by bees, pollinating insects, deer and numerous wild plant species. A path of about three kilometers that tells the most authentic face of the estate.

One hour between Milan and Genoa

La Raia is less than an hour from Genoa and a little more from Milan, but once you arrive the pace changes completely. Between biodynamic tastings, yoga, pottery workshops, vineyard walks and gourmet stops, the stay here becomes a slow and immersive experience, where the landscape is not just the background, but the protagonist.
