Vigna Resilience: in Naples, the first vineyard managed by suburban students

The goal of the Vigna Resilience project is to promote integration and education and to enhance a brownfield site with deep historical and archaeological value.

An educational vineyard to promote new forms of integration and training for children from the suburbs of Naples and, at the same time, the enhancement of a disused area with deep historical and archaeological value. This is the spirit of the “Vigna Resilience” project, carried out by the RadiciVive winery in synergy with the City of Naples, the Soprintendenza Archeologia Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the City of Naples and the subject of a master’s degree from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Naples “Federico II.”

A virtuous social project

A virtuous project launched at the height of the Covid emergency, in March 2020, which is a concrete example of environmental recovery at the service of the community, and which will be presented on Tuesday, April 30 from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the RadiciVive winery. The restoration of the Roman Mausoleum will be presented on the occasion.

A name was chosen for the “Vineyard Resilience” Project that evokes the ability of local communities to constantly adapt and readjust to changes, forging virtuous social mechanisms of coexistence with the territory each time.

Schools involved

The project has Involved schools “Russo,” “72nd Palasciano,” “Russolillo,” “Swan” and “Risorgimento” and saw pupils engaged in a real training program that allowed students to learn about and To delve into all aspects of the viticulture and wine industry. Several topics were touched upon, including the importance of bonding with one’s territory, the history of wine and the Campi Flegrei. Then the creation of a wine bottle with the personality of each school, born from the vineyard located around the Roman mausoleum in Pianura in front of the RadiciVive winery. The goal is to create a label resulting from the joint work that will help fund new outreach projects in state schools.

The presentation to the public

The day on April 30, which will also see the presence of Superintendent Rosalia D’Apice, will be the culmination of all the work done with the children . They will also dress the role of mini-guides for all guests in attendance on this occasion. At the same time, the completion of restoration work on the Roman mausoleum conducted by the Superintendency and the company Izzo Restauri will be presented.
