L’Altra Toscana 2026 preview: in Florence, the tale of lesser-known appellations

On Feb. 18, 2026, Anteprima L’Altra Toscana returns to Florence, the event that, as part of Tuscany Preview Week, turns the spotlight on a wine Tuscany that is less celebrated but increasingly central in terms of quality, identity and expressive capacity. The event is hosted at the Palazzo degli Affari (Piazza Adua 1) and brings together 11 PDOs and 1 PGI, with their respective Consortia, to tell the story of a wine region rich in nuances, territories and different stories.

L’Altra Toscana represents that mosaic of appellations that, although far from the great media spotlight, contribute substantially to the regional wine offer, bringing authentic wines to the glasses, strongly linked to the territory and increasingly appreciated by the press, operators and enthusiasts. Inland hills, coastal areas, historic areas and less-traveled contexts: here viticulture has been rooted for centuries and today expresses itself with an ever-growing awareness of quality.

Alongside the historic producers of the territories, the L’Altra Toscana Preview also recounts the contribution of emblazoned names in Italian oenology, who have chosen these appellations to interpret new terroirs, enhancing their identity and broadening the expressive horizon of Tuscan wine. A varied ensemble that increasingly intrigues the public and confirms the strategic role of these PDOs and PGIs in the regional panorama. A route that crosses territories from the hills to the sea, offering a broad and articulated reading of wine Tuscany, far from stereotypes and increasingly attentive to local peculiarities.
