Once again this year, August 15 th arrives just as summer seems to be winding down. The cities empty out for summer holidays, dinner tables are set for larger gatherings, and life returns to a more leisurely pace. Perhaps this is the true beauty of the most quintessentially Italian holiday of all: taking a few hours to relax, in the company of the right people and a good bottle of wine.
We at DoctorWine will also be taking our foot off the gas a bit next week. Starting Monday the 17th, we’ll go back to doing what we’ve always done: telling the story of wine through the regions, the people, and the stories that bring it to life. And, of course, the tastings.
Summer holidays are a much-needed break. For those at the beach, for those who head to the mountains, for those who stay in the city, or perhaps find refuge among the vineyards. For those hosting a barbecue with friends, a family lunch, or simply opening a bottle for no particular reason. Because, after all, the best moments are the ones that don’t need to be planned.
Our wish is simple: that you may enjoy good drinks, even better food, and spend time with those who make you feel good. May the wine in your glass tell the story of a place, a vintage, or a person. And may that story make this festive day even more enjoyable.
We’re taking a short break to recharge our batteries and get ready for the busy months ahead. Fall will bring new tastings, new trips, new encounters, and, of course, the presentation of the upcoming The Essential Guide to Italian Wines, which is the heart of our business every year. By the way: mark your calendars.
