Io, Barolo 2025 – An enological journey into the heart of the Langhe. The “King of Wines” returns to Roddi for an unmissable tasting with the producers of the Strada del Barolo

On Saturday, September 13, 2025, the picturesque medieval village of Roddi and its imposing castle will be the setting for the 12th edition of Io, Barolo. The event, organized by the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa (Road of Barolo and Great Wines of Langa), celebrates Barolo and its exceptional producers, offering a unique tasting experience.

From 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. about thirty Barolo producers will lead participants on a fascinating wine tour. The itinerant tasting will start from Piazza Umberto I and culminate in the charming castle garden, from which there is a breathtaking view of the vineyards and hills, a UNESCO heritage site, that surround the heart of the Barolo production area. Here, wine lovers and connoisseurs will have the opportunity to taste a wide range of different crus and vintages of Barolo, as well as other fine wines from the area.

How to participate in the event

Access to Io, Barolo is free and open to all. To taste the wines, one can purchase a tasting pass for pre-sale online, or on site (subject to availability), which allows one to taste wines from all producers in attendance. Each participant will receive a glass to take home as a memento of the evening. They will also receive a coupon that will allow them to visit one of the wineries at the event with a 10 percent discount on any purchases. A special discount on the cost of the tasting pass is reserved for Roddi residents.

Exclusive experiences and insights

The day will be enriched by special appointments:

• Tasting Salon (3 p.m. – 4 p.m.): an unmissable preview hosted by actress Chiara Buratti, a well-known face in theater and television, with a long experience between stage and media. Inside the recently restored medieval castle, two producers will talk about their experience and the history of their wineries. Two exclusive wines, not featured in the main event, will be tasted. The meeting will have an original slant, thanks to the conduction of Chiara Buratti, who has often brought to the stage formats that fuse storytelling and narration of the territory. An extra cost is expected.
• Guided tours of Roddi Castle (5-8 p.m.): 4 rounds will be organized to admire the restored halls, historic 16th-century kitchens and medieval core of the castle. Extra cost provided.

Local flavors and traditions

There will be no shortage of gastronomic offerings, with stands by producers associated with the Barolo Trail and show cooking by the Quality Piedmontese Rice Trail, which will delight attendees with delicious freshly prepared risottos.

The event is organized by the Strada del Barolo e grandi vini di Langa, under the patronage of the Piedmont Regional Council, theAssociation for the Heritage of the Viticultural Landscapes of Piedmont: Langhe-Roero e Monferrato, and the Barolo & Castles Foundation.
