Preview of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2026: at the Fortezza Medicea the big date with the new vintages

One of the most eagerly awaited events on the Italian wine scene returns again in 2026: the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Preview. The event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Sunday, Feb. 23, 2026 inside the imposing Medici Fortress in Montepulciano (Siena), with tastings, meetings and seminars dedicated to the most representative wines of the Tuscan DOCG appellation, considered among the great Italian reds for quality and longevity.

A historic event for a historic denomination

The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Preview is a tradition with more than 30 years of history, organized by the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano together with the Strada del Vino Nobile and the town’s ProLoco, with the support of the Municipality of Montepulciano.

The event is a key moment to discover a preview of the new vintages being released and to experience firsthand the complex and multifaceted identity of the Poliziano territory, including vineyards, medieval villages and a cultural heritage that is reflected in the wines and landscapes.

The two-day Preview will be held with a program of tastings aimed at both Ho.Re.Ca. operators and enthusiasts.

Saturday, February 22, 2026

• 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. – Wine tasting of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano with the producers present in the Fortezza Medicea.

Sunday, February 23, 2026

• 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. – Continuation of tasting with participating companies.
• 3 p.m. – Special seminar “Le Pievi del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano,” curated by Adua Villa, an in-depth study dedicated to the Pievi, historical places linked to the wine-making tradition of Montepulciano. Participation in the seminar is subject to availability with registration via email indicated on the official website.

During the preview it will be possible to taste the new vintages coming out on the market, in particular Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2023, thevintage ready to be marketed after the aging period required by the regulations, and Riserva 2022, as well as other types produced in the area such as Rosso di Montepulciano and Vin Santo di Montepulciano.

Where and how to participate

The preview takes place inside the charming Fortezza Medicea, located at Via San Donato 21, Montepulciano (SI), a short walk from Piazza Grande. A historic setting that adds charm to the tasting experience.
