As many as 175 wineries mentioned within it, 1,015 wines reviewed, 65 deserving of the “Four Triskeles,” including 15 recognized as “Pigne.” These are the big numbers that will be told next Saturday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. during the presentation of the sixth edition of the Guide to the Wines of Sicily 2025 at the Poggio Del Sole Hotel in Ragusa. “We are proud to have included in this handbook the wineries that have chosen to produce organically and biodynamically,” President Baldacchino added, “as evidence of a growing awareness of sustainable agricultural practices. In 2025, in fact, Sicily will be the European Region of Food and Wine, and this Guide aims to be a point of reference for those who want to discover the food and wine excellence of our island.” The regional board of directors, after the customary ribbon-cutting ceremony, will welcome the wine enthusiasts who will arrive from all over the island to participate in the important event that, as always, will officially mark the beginning of the new year of major events under Ais Sicilia’s signature.

The Sicily of Wine

The quality of Sicilian wines is growing steadily, and the Guide to the Wines of Sicily is pure testimony to this. Sicily is a veritable continent of wine, with a diversity of terroirs and microclimates that is reflected in the richness and complexity of its wines. From Metodo Classico and Charmat bubbles to great structured reds, via authoritative whites, rosés and dessert wines. The region offers an oenological panorama of extraordinary richness. The Guide also includes the now numerous “unconventional” wines and macerates, which increasingly enjoy great appeal. The hundreds of tastings conducted have highlighted a leap forward in the overall quality of Sicilian wine between obvious confirmations, such as the Etna area, and surprising novelties such as the small appellations of Faro, Delia Nivolelli, Monreale, Menfi, Noto and Eloro.
