Cupertinum

The Copertino social winery is the oldest cooperative in the province of Lecce. In 1935 there were 36 members, now there are 350 with four hundred hectares under cultivation; production is close to one million bottles, most destined for Northern Europe. It skillfully combines tradition with modernity, production with social, cultural and tourism promotion. For more than four decades Severino Garofano, the pioneer of Salento wines, has been the winemaker. The Copertino Rosso Riserva, the flagship wine, remains one of his masterpieces.
