Castelgiocondo

The ancient stronghold of Castelgiocondo was built in 1100 to defend the road leading from the coast to Siena. Even today, the village overlooks the Frescobaldi estate in Ilcina, acquired by the historic family in 1989 with the aim of producing wines from the finest appellations Tuscany has to offer. The property is very large (815 hectares in total), and the area designated for Brunello covers about 150 hectares—truly an enormous asset. We are located in the southwestern part of Montalcino, at an altitude of about 300 meters, with highly varied soils that can impart a thousand different nuances to the grapes.
