We are in the hills of Rosazzo, in the Colli Orientali del Friuli, in a historic complex that preserves over a thousand years of history. According to tradition, as early as the 9th century, the hermit Alemanno chose this hill as a place of prayer; in the centuries that followed, various monastic orders cultivated grapevines and olive trees, helping to make Rosazzo one of the iconic sites of Friulian wine.
In 2025, Livio Felluga opened new spaces dedicated to hospitality and wine tastings, transforming the visit into a journey that brings together culture, landscape, and wine, without compromising the identity of a place that continues to thrive while honoring its history.
The Livio Felluga Experience
The tour isn’t just about tasting. Tour takes guests on a journey through the Abbey’s rooms, among the historic abbey vineyards, the centuries-old olive trees, the ancient western tower, and the charming aging cellar – considered the oldest in Friuli and dating back to the late 13th century.
New hospitality space was designed with a minimalist, contemporary style, designed to harmonize with the historic architecture without overshadowing it. Large windows offer a view of the hills, while the guided wine tasting of the famous “Carta Geografica” wines provides insight into the deep connection between each label and the territory from which it originates.

In fact, this is where some of the winery’s most iconic wines are produced, such as the Rosazzo DOCG Abbazia di Rosazzo – a blend of Friulano, Sauvignon, Pinot Bianco, Malvasia Istriana, and Ribolla Gialla – a direct expression of the historic abbey vineyards and the “ponca,” the typical marl and sandstone soil that characterizes these hills.
It is no coincidence that as early as 1483, the Venetian scholar Marin Sanudo wrote: “Here are the most perfect wines”, a phrase that today serves as a warm welcome to visitors and encapsulates centuries of winemaking tradition.
