Once again this year we bring you the very special ranking of the 10 most read articles on DoctorWine in the year just ended. A clear picture emerges. On the one hand, the interest is in drinking well without bleeding one’s finances, and on the other hand, reading the reflections of director Daniele Cernilli, who has known and studied the world of wine for forty years.
2025 is no exception: among the most-read articles are those devoted to the presentations of the The Essential Guide to Italian Wines 2026. Both the one in Milan and that of Rome, as well as the pages dedicated to the wines awarded in the guide itself (the article listing the wines that deserved the double and triple faces, from 98/100 and up). As we did last year, we did not include these articles among the most viewed. The Guide is the core of our editorial network and, ça va sans dire, everything that revolves around it, both as events and awards, is of great interest.
The pleasure of very good drinking and economic sustainability
In any case, the most read article of the year is the one that Stefania Vinciguerra dedicated to the 10 best red wines within 30 euros. Sign that we are all interested in drinking well, very well, while spending the right amount. One can raise the bar on the price we are willing to spend, as long as it is really worth it. The other two articles that follow in the same vein, the 10 best whites within 25 euros e the 10 best sparkling wines within 32 euros, follow closely behind in this most-read ranking, occupying second and fourth place, respectively.
We then turn to the editor’s editorials, which are always the most popular articles. The one that was liked the most, third most, is Because I drink wine. Here Daniele Cernilli simply explains that the reasons for drinking wine are many, but the reason main one is the hedonistic one. We drink wine because it is good, because we like it. Going beyond philosophical or market considerations.
Examination of the sector is closely followed
This is followed by the three editorials devoted to The wine crisis (first, second e third part), in which the editor offers his reading focusing on the reasons that are causing it. His analysis went on for three articles, and all three were super-hyped. Indicating that-in a world where superficiality is said to reign-in-depth insights are very welcome.
Vertical of Monfortino
The eighth article in this ranking is about an impressive vertical that we presented. A Century of Monfortino by Giacomo Conterno, a historic vertical. We decided to present again an extraordinary and unique tasting that Vinogodi, a.k.a. Marco Manzoli, has made “in installments” over the past few years. He starts from the first vintage produced, 1924, to the latest currently on the market, 2019, touching on the most significant vintages.
The ninth most-read article is a topic that has been much talked about in this 2025. Dealcolated wines. The possibility of producing partially or totally dealcolated wines had just passed in Italy, and the editor, jousting between enthusiasts and skeptics, tried to see how things stood.
The tenth article is about a topical news story. The untimely death of Alessandrojacopo Boncompagni Ludovisi, lord of the Fiorano Estate. Prince Alessandrojacopo was only 53 years old, and the news of his death shook the souls of all who knew him.
