Wine Calabria presents in Rome the balance of a successful year and the guidelines of the 2026 promotion, under the sign of “Calabria Straordinaria.” Presences in the main international fairs are confirmed, the link with Vinitaly is strengthened and attention to incoming is growing, with events and press tours in the symbolic territories of Calabrian viticulture.
Wine Calabria is back in the spotlight in Rome to present a year full of results and outline the new program for the enhancement of regional enology. A meeting that renews the region’s commitment to promoting a unified and recognizable image of its labels, strengthening its presence in the main Italian and European markets under the claim “Calabria Straordinaria.”
The capital, where interest in Calabrian wines continues to grow, will host an event dedicated to the trade and wine enthusiasts in early 2026, with a selection of the best regional labels for tasting. An appointment that will inaugurate a strategic year for the entire sector.
A 2025 of successes, a 2026 of confirmations
After a year that saw Calabria stand out in the industry’s major events – Vinitaly, Merano WineFestival, Vinòforum, VitignoItalia, ProWein and Wine Paris – 2026 promises to be just as dynamic.
The region confirms participation in relevant fairs and focuses on expanding exhibition space at Wine Paris, strengthening its visibility in key markets.
“Our goal is to build a narrative consistent with Calabrian wine traditions and identity, ” said Agriculture Councillor Gianluca Gallo.. Rome is a starting point, but our efforts also look to international markets, where Calabrian wines are finding an increasingly receptive audience.”
The confirmation of the presence at ProWein was important, testifying to the growing interest of the German market, which is also supported by catering that is attentive to the quality and typicality of Calabrian labels.
Vinitaly and events in the region
The year 2026 will see a full calendar of events during Vinitaly, including tastings, meetings with the Italian and international press and in-depth moments.
Collaboration with the Verona fair is also being consolidated through the third edition of Vinitaly and the City in Sibari, scheduled for late July.
The value of incoming
Bringing Calabrian wines to the world is essential, but, Gallo stresses, “welcoming the main players in the industry to our territories is even more so: only by seeing where our wines are born can one truly understand their value.”
The numerous events scheduled in Calabria fit into this perspective:
- Cirò will again host the Merano WineFestival, June 6-8, 2026, offering an immersion in the grape varieties and landscapes that define Calabrian wine identity.
- Also in Cirò, at the end of March, the Rosé Session of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be held, bringing dozens of operators from all over the world to the region, confirming a now well-established collaboration.
New press tours aimed at the Italian and international press are also in the works, to give them a firsthand experience of a region that increasingly identifies with the concept of “Extraordinary Calabria.”
