Santa Venerina – EnoEtna 2025

EnoEtna 2025: In Santa Venerina the stage of the National Palio of the Casks of the Wine Cities. The three-day program: taste, entertainment and tradition.
Three days, to tell the story of Etna with the strength of its wines, the creativity of its cuisine and the richness of its traditions.
From September 26 to 28, 2025 Santa Venerina, in the province of Catania, is transformed into the capital of Etna’s taste and culture. The XXVIII edition of EnoEtna is coming. The event celebrates wine and the excellence of the area with a program that weaves together guided tastings, cooking shows, art, talks and folk traditions.
Among the most anticipated moments is the stage of the National Palio delle Botti of the Wine Cities, with Santa Venerina today in third place in the national ranking.
Friday, September 26
Everything is already ready. It starts on Friday, September 26, with the opening, in the municipal villa “Giovanni Pappalardo, ” of the “Piazza delle Eccellenze della Sicilia e dell’Etna” and the “Mostra Mercato Enogastronomica e Artigianale.” This is followed by the inauguration of “La Via dell’Arte,” a diffuse exhibition route between painting and sculpture.
At 7 p.m. in Piazza Roma, at the “Etna in Bocca” restaurant, there will be the first guided tasting conducted by Federico Latteri, wine expert of the online newspaper Cronache di Gusto -media partner of the event-, dedicated to Etna’s white wines. On the first day there will also be a cooking show with Conpait Sicilia and the inauguration of the photo exhibition “Visioni Etnee” curated by Linda Lambertucci.
It will close with the evening concert of Mario Incudine Live Tour.
Saturday, September 27
The morning of Saturday, Sept. 27, will open with the extemporaneous painting contest and the Mini Palio delle Contrade (popular games for children). The Villa Comunale will host wine and oil tasting tours. This will be followed by cooking shows and the second guided tasting, by Latteri, on Etna’s red wines.
During the evening, space for entertainment with the EnoEtna Wine Fashion, a fashion show curated by Rosa Donzuso and Salvo Murabito.
The second day will end in Roma Square with comedian Andrea Russo (Zelig) and the “Noche Perfecta” of Latin American music and dance by the Fuego Latino Dance Academy of Acireale.
Sunday, September 28
Intense program on Sunday, September 28. It begins at 9:30 a.m. with the parade of teams of barrel “pushers” to Piazza Roma andthe start of the National Palio of the Casks of the Wine Cities. Competing will be 20 teams (13 male and 7 female) and 500-liter barrels, for a women’s 400-meter and men’s 1100-meter course, to be pushed in the Piazza Roma – Piazza Regina Elena quadrilateral. To ‘challenge’ the male and female pushers from the cities involved: Castelnuovo Don Bosco (AT), Maggiora (NO), Grignasco (NO), Cavriana (MN), Vittorio Veneto (TV), Refrontolo (TV), Corno di Rosazzo (UD) Furore (SA), Marsciano (PG), Mormanno (CS), Lamezia Terme (CZ), Bianco (RC), Santa Venerina (CT).
At the end of the time trials, the three finalists of the Etna stage will be announced. The scores will feed into the national ranking ahead of the finals in Maggiora (NO) on October 11-12.
“Our teams train all year round to improve their times,” stresses Salvo Spadaro, president of the Pro Loco of Santa Venerina. In the end, only one bottle is won, but the Palio is above all passion, pride and the pleasure of representing our community. We are ready to give it our all.”
Once the historic competition is over, which currently sees Santa Venerina third in the national rankings, the day will be marked by new cooking shows with Franco Patanè of Conpait Sicilia and with chef Seby Sorbello and theCatania cooks’ association with president Pietro Arezzi. The educational and identity value of the event is strengthened by the involvement of two school realities of excellence: the Istituto Professionale di Stato per l’Agricoltura “A. Mazzei” and the IPSSEOA “Giovanni Falcone” of Giarre, engaged in workshops, cooking shows and hosting activities.
The third and final day also included the presentation of the book “Distilleries and Liquor Factories in Santa Venerina” by Prof. Giovanni Vecchio, with a final tasting of products from local distilleries by Federico Latteri.
And finally, the grand finale in Roma Square with the Ligabue Tribute Band “Primo Tempo.”
