Meetings with winemakers “, kicks off the seventh edition of “June Slow,” promoted until June 7 by Slow Food Gallura, Slow Food Sardegna and the municipal administration, which is gathering increasing response among tourists, residents and food and wine enthusiasts.
Vite e vite, three days dedicated to natural wine
The weekend of May 24-25 kicks off with three days dedicated to natural wine at the Ex Magazzini Ilva (Via Filzi, 10) with a well-rounded program including tastings, masterclasses, guided tours, a workshop, a conference, good food and lots of music. There will be 150 wines for tasting and more than 30 wineries present including Sardinian and national ones.
“Vite e vite has had its natural evolution and has become a festival, the annual appointment of an outreach and education project that we actually carry on all year round,” explains Paola Placido, creator and organizer of the natural wine discovery initiative now in its fourth year. She adds, “Our role as Slow Food Gallura is to intermediate between all the key players for the sustainability of the sector, so as to design a territory through its community. We are in fact creating not one, but several communities of territories in which all those who share the value of sustainable production and good human relations are invited to join.”
The goals of June Slow
Community engagement has always been constant throughout the event, as June Slow managerSimona Gay points out, “Over the years we have tried to highlight winemakers, farmers, breeders, fishermen and local communities who concretely interpret Slow Food’s values of ‘good, clean and fair,’ with the desire to make people rediscover the deep connection between people, territory and food culture. A fundamental awareness, because only when individuals feel truly connected to places, their history, traditions and those who guard local knowledge and production, can those territories be experienced, preserved and not abandoned.” He concludes, “This is the mission of Slow June: to create authentic relationships between people and territory, so that biodiversity, culture and local knowledge become once again a shared responsibility and a living presence in the everyday life of communities.”
In perfect agreement is the municipal administration. “Our community continues to share the values promoted by Slow Food with a view to a sustainable and integrated socio-economic development,” says Municipal Councillor for Commerce Stefania Terrazzoni. “Also in this edition, thanks to the project consolidated along these seven years, our economic operators are engaged in a proposal of excellent food and wine choices strongly linked to the territory.
