The eighth edition of OPEN OdV’s Buonissimi charity event raised 268,845 euros to fund research on pediatric cancers. Funding for the CEINGE Editor project has been completed, while total donations since the event’s inception have exceeded 1.25 million euros.
Success in Salerno for pediatric research
The eighth edition of Buonissimi 2026, the charity event organized by the OPEN OdV Association and conceived by Paola Pignataro and Silvana Tortorella, raised 268,845 euros. On June 22, the Marina d’Arechi Port Village in Salerno welcomed thousands of visitors and featured nearly 300 booths staffed by Michelin-starred chefs, pizza makers, producers, winemakers, craft breweries, bartenders, and culinary artisans, with a focus on sustainability and gluten-free options.
The Editor Project Is Complete
Anna Maria Alfani, president of OPEN OdV, announced the completion of funding for the Editor project, developed in collaboration with CEINGE—the Institute of Advanced Biotechnology at the University of Naples Federico II. The funds will enable the completion of the genomic sequencing program aimed at the prevention and treatment of pediatric cancers.
More than 800 patients participated in the study
Professor Mario Capasso, an associate professor of Medical Genetics at Federico II University and Principal Investigator at CEINGE, presented the results of a study conducted on more than 800 patients, highlighting predisposing genetic mutations present in more than 12% of cases, a finding that opens up new possibilities for early diagnosis and personalized therapies.
1.25 million euros over eight editions
During the evening, the Franco Ricciardi Award was presented to Dr. Fabiola De Gregorio for her work with CEINGE and Pausilipon. With the results from 2026, Buonissimi has raised a total of over 1,250,169 euros across its eight editions. It reaffirms its status as one of the leading charity events in the Italian food and wine industry.
