Perlemilia is the new logo dedicated to Emilian bubbles, which was born from the idea of enhancing the growing quality of the region’s Metodo Classico, Charmat and Rifermentati sparkling wines. The name recalls the “pearls” of bubbles and aims to create a shared identity among producers.
Emilia is historically known for its Lambrusco wines, but in recent decades it has also established itself in the production of Metodo Classico and of modern versions of bottle-fermented sparkling wines. An “ancestral” tradition, refined by new technical skills and a renewed commitment to quality.
In recent decades we have been spectators to this qualitative advancement that does not leave one indifferent; the growing presence of this type on our Essential Guide.
Today the region boasts a viticulture dedicated to sparkling wine that involves the entire territory: from the far reaches of Piacenza, to the hills of Parma and Reggio Emilia, to the Colli Bolognesi and the province of Ferrara.
The international market for bubbles, Champagne, Cava and Metodo Classico Italiano, is booming. And a growing part of the public is looking for quality products. Emilia, which has always had a significant tradition on bubbles. Vinifying not only native grapes, but also international grape varieties, is ready to answer this question. Enhancing its own excellence and overcoming the reductive perception related only to mass production.
The vision of the project: identity, quality and territory

The organizers identified some basic needs.
- Telling the Emilian history of bubbles., which has its roots well before other territories that are better known today.
- Distinguishing quality, which is often obscured by the name “Lambrusco,” which for the foreign consumer recalls cheap products.
- Giving visibility to wines from hillside, areas now recognized as ideal for fine production.
- Planning a medium- to long-term strategy., creating a unified identity that enhances territory, grape varieties and production methods.
The name: Perlemilia

In order to emphasize the excellence of existing quality products, with an eye toward the future, it was decided to create a targeted protection. To identify a name that exalts the territory, typicality of the grapes and winemaking method of our bubbles.
The logo was born from a play on words.
“For Emilia” → “Pearls Emilia” → Perlemilia
The pearls, a graphic and metaphorical symbol, represent the bubbles of the different types of sparkling wines produced in the region.
