WanderWine – play, explore, learn – is the board game designed by Marco Di Giovanni that brings wine knowledge under the tree.

When we talk about alternative ways to spread wine knowledge, I challenge any of you to name a board game as a possible solution. Yet it has been done. And the way the project was developed is more relevant than ever at this time of year. The run-up to the holiday season, when we rediscover the importance of being together while leaving aside cell phones and tablets.

And this is where the value of sharing is intertwined with the pleasure of discovery, thanks to WanderWine, the game designed by Marco Di Giovanni that combines popularization, curiosity and entertainment. “A game designed to bring enthusiasts and novices closer to the universe of wine through simple, intuitive and engaging dynamics.”, Di Giovanni explains.

Fun and knowledge: a successful balance

wanderwine board gameWanderWine was created with the goal of making accessible a world often perceived as complex. The game is presented with a classic board on which to roll dice, with a path to be completed. Placeholders, cards and objects related to the game are all wine-themed and help the player immerse themselves in a step-by-step journey through grape varieties, territories, production styles, traditions and characters that have marked the history of world wine. No specific technical skills are required but every match is an opportunity to learn while having fun.

How to play the game? Marco Di Giovanni explains: “There are three phases of the game: Exploration: simply choose one of the 16 wine regions in the game and obtain the three basic components, represented by the grape, soil and production secret cards; Wine Production: you have to earn bottles and fill your own barrel; Export: win the game by exporting the full barrel to your wine shop around the world.”

There are exploration cards, investment boxes, tasting challenges… in short: there is no shortage of surprises and engaging passages.

The perfect game for the holidays

Its structure allows players with different levels of knowledge to participate on the same level. Marco Di Giovanni, taster and popularizer, put his experience and desire to tell the story of wine in a light but accurate way into the game. The result is A game that combines rigor and usability, designed to offer a broad and dynamic overview without ever losing sight of the playful aspect.
