Announced the winners of the Leccio D’Oro 2025, the award that the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino gives to its “ambassadors” in Italy and abroad. The special Communication and Digital Media award debuts.
Winners of the Leccio d’Oro 2025 announced. The Consorzio del vino Brunello di Montalcino today made official the protagonists of the award that for more than 30 years has identified and selected, in Italy and abroad, restaurants and wine shops with highly representative lists and proposals of the denomination’s wines, both in terms of number of labels and verticality of vintages.
Among the novelties of the 34th edition of the Leccio d’Oro, the location of the award ceremony during the Benvenuto Brunello cocktail gala (November 21, by invitation only) and the debut of the special Communication and Digital Media Award. “A new category that tells how the way of talking about wine is changing,” stresses the president of the Consortium, Giacomo Bartolommei. ” In a world that is constantly evolving, wine returns to being storytelling, meeting and sharing: a language that unites, rather than explaining.
Restaurants Section (Italy and Abroad)
Winning the ‘Italian Restaurant‘ category is the Taverna di San Giuseppe in Siena with a cellar of more than 600 national and international references in which Brunello stands out, flanked also by Rosso di Montalcino, while Casa Tua in Miami (Florida-USA) is the international restaurant awarded the Leccio d’Oro. Founded in 2001 by Miky Grenden (of Italian descent) and entrusted to the direction of Alessandro Lapomarda, the restaurant-with locations also in New York, Aspen and Paris-is distinguished by a wine list of international scope and a constant focus on the great Italian reds and Brunello in particular.
Wine Shops Section (Italy and Abroad)
From the United States to Canada for the ‘Foreign Wine Market 2025‘ category, which goes to Zyn the wine market, the liquor store in Calgary, in the province of Alberta, which offers a total of more than 7 thousand international references, including Italian ones led by more than 170 references between Brunello and Brunello Riserva of the most significant vintages, also at the center of numerous dedicated wine experiences. Returning to Montalcino is the Leccio d’Oro for the same section awarded to theEnoteca di Piazza, a destination in the heart of the village for purchases by Italian and international tourists. Founded in 2004 by husband and wife Silvana and Andrea Fedolfi, Enoteca di Piazza offers a comprehensive overview of the area’s producers, from historic labels to emerging realities.
Staying in the territory is the Rosso di Montalcino Special Prize awarded to Vineria Aperta in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, awarded for its commitment to promoting Rosso di Montalcino, the appellation’s pop soul wine that combines versatility and identity.
Special Communication and Digital Media Award
Jean des Rivières e Terry Goodall are the performers of the debut of the Special Communication and Digital Media Award given for the “ability to tell, through digital channels and international media, the territory of Montalcino and its wines with contemporary language and high-profile popular content.”
After a 37-year career as a geologist and executive in the natural resources industry, Jean des Rivières (Toronto) turned his passion for Brunello di Montalcino into the project @BrunelloDude, with the goal of making it communicatively accessible through engaging and enjoyable language. His motto is “Every day is a happy day with a Brunello.”
Terry Goodall (Redmond-Washington) is a passionate devotee of Brunello di Montalcino, discovered during a trip to Italy in 2002 and author of @Culinary_Travels_with_Brunello, created to share his passion for food and wine. He keeps about 950 bottles of Brunello and 200 bottles of Rosso di Montalcino in his cellar.
