Prosecco Cycling: The world by bike among the Prosecco hills!
Countdown to the 2025 edition of Prosecco Cycling, which on Sunday, September 28, will parade the 100-kilometer course through the vineyards, involving fans from 29 nations and great guests. A unique format between timed climbs and gourmet stops. Departure at 8:30 a.m. from Piazza Marconi in Valdobbiadene. Friday at Villa Sandi the International Meeting on Sustainable Mobility with the organizers of the most attended cycling events on the planet.
The 2025 edition
Prosecco Cycling 2025, scheduled for Sunday, September 28, in Valdobbiadene, confirms its role as a unique international cycling event. Now in its 22nd edition, the event will see the participation of more than 2,600 registered participants from 29 nations, with about 800 foreigners and a strong female presence (25 percent). The itinerary will be a unique route of 100 km and 1510 meters of elevation gain, crossing all 15 municipalities of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG Appellation, a UNESCO World Heritage Site from 2019.
He who goes slow wins
The philosophy of the race remains unchanged: less competition, more fun. It’s not whoever is fastest that wins, but whoever can best enjoy the experience. The arrival of the last runner is celebrated as a highlight, with toasts and giant cake. To reinforce the “slow” spirit, a minimum time of 3 hours and 10 minutes has been introduced, which prevents the race from being approached at an overly competitive pace. There is no shortage of gourmet stops along the route, including the 2025 novelty: tripe and Prosecco at Col San Martino, in addition to the traditional appointments with tiramisu, scampi and typical specialties.
A unique format
The ranking format is also peculiar. At the individual level, the result is determined only by times on three timed climbs: Via Busi, Ca’ del Poggio and Collalto. Team rankings include the Fun Team, which rewards the most compact group, the ranking by the number of cyclists who arrived together, and the We2gether, which enhances the team with the most creative setting. This formula allows simultaneous participation in all rankings.
Prosecco Cycling is not just pedaling: it is a true festival of the area. In addition to the cyclists, the event generates an important tourist inducement, with about 2,000 overnight stays and 70 percent of participants staying for at least two nights. Rounding out the experience is the Grand Tour Gourmet, which offers participants discount vouchers for restaurants and tastings spread among wineries and typical establishments. At the finish line, students from hotel and agricultural schools will offer tastings of PDO products paired with Prosecco Superiore.
Among the most anticipated guests are well-known faces in cycling such as Claudio Chiappucci and Marco Saligari, international managers and institutional figures. There will be no shortage of side events such as Joe T Vannelli’s DJ set in Marconi Square.
International Meeting on Sustainable Mobility
On the international front, Prosecco Cycling also promotes sustainability. The International Meeting on Sustainable Mobility, scheduled for September 26 at Villa Sandi, will feature representatives from New York, Vancouver, Cape Town and Tokyo. It is precisely the Japanese capital that will join the World Cycling Sustainable Events project, which unites the world’s major cycling events under the banner of green mobility.
Team spirit
Behind the scenes, the success of the event is made possible by the work of more than 1,300 people, including professionals, volunteers and local associations. In more than two decades, Prosecco Cycling has turned into much more than a race: it is a great event of sport, culture, food and wine and territorial promotion, capable of attracting cyclists and tourists from all over the world to celebrate the Prosecco hills.
