In the heart of Val d’Orcia, at the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco resort, the original gastronomic stop at Campo del Drago Restaurant** and the new experiences A Casa dello chef, Sapore di Mare and Dipingi & Degusta.
Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, the idyllic resort located in the heart of the Val d’Orcia Natural Park, reopens its doors March 21 for its 10th Anniversary season under the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts brand, with new Managing Director Nicola Migheli.
Located in the Brunello di Montalcino production area, Castiglion del Bosco is an estate of more than 2,000 hectares whose origins date back some 900 years. It encompasses the ancient ruins of a castle dating back to 1100 AD, a 14th-century medieval church and the borgo-the historic village that is now the beating heart of the resort-in which the 42 suites stand, embraced by the Sienese countryside and in the midst of which rise the property’s 11 villas.
The two gastronomic souls of the resort

There are two gastronomic souls of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, linked to a land steeped in great culinary traditions: theOsteria La Canonica, which offers the dishes of a typical Tuscan trattoria, and the Campo del Drago Restaurant, awarded last November with the second Star in the Michelin Guide Italy 2025. Here the proposal is original and comes from the raw materials of the estate’s organic vegetable garden, just a few steps from the kitchen.
Executive chef Matteo Temperini curates the menus at both addresses, always striving to respect the seasonality of produce and maintaining a balance between food, land and community. Inevitable are the cooking school, two poolside bars and the Lobby Bar.
Proposals for new experiences for Foodies
For Foodies, 2025 opens under the very banner of grand new experiences dedicated to the table, during which enthusiasts will find their ideal destination.
At the Chef’s House: in the cozy atmosphere of Villa Capanna, in one of the most picturesque spots on the estate, surrounded by the beauty of the Val d’Orcia and the vineyards of the Castiglion del Bosco Winery, Temperini invites guests to a convivial dinner with a surprise menu.
A taste of the sea: a celebration of the bounty of the Tyrrhenian Sea, right by the pool. The sea lands in Castiglion del Bosco with a seafood menu created with raw materials carefully selected by Temperini. From delicately flavored appetizers to the catch of the day, each dish represents the pure essence of the sea.
In summer, star chefs with resident chef Matteo Temperini

Once again this year, Chef Temperini is celebrating his love of cooking by inviting chef colleagues and friends to cook with him in the May-September Friends in the Kitchen event-where the chef blends his creativity with that of renowned star chefs to create a series of four-handed evenings.
Each evening will see the presentation of an exceptional 4-course tasting menu to be enjoyed at the Campo del Drago Restaurant. While during the iconic Dinner in the Vineyard, guests can partake in local barbecue at the convivial table nestled among the vines, accompanied by cocktails and estate wines.
Paint & Taste or create your own perfume
For art lovers, it is wine that will provide the inspiration this year: a paintbrush, canvas, paints and a glass of Rosso or Brunello. This is what is needed to give vent to one’s creative flair and capture the amazing landscape by which the Resort is surrounded, between sips, during the brand new Painting & Tasting activity.
On the other hand, for those who wish to take a unique souvenir with them, the Fragrance Workshop gives the opportunity to recreate their own fragrance, for the person or the environment, based on their olfactory preferences. Among the many essences, you will find from the most classic to the most sought-after, including a special one created especially with herbs from Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco’s vegetable garden.
Then cocktails and wine tasting
At Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, seasonal raw materials from the village’s organic vegetable garden continue to star in the drink list at The Lobby Bar, the elegant and welcoming indoor and outdoor lounge with panoramic views of the Tuscan hills. Bar Manager Raffaele Orlando brings to life the cocktail list that comes from local raw materials grown directly in the garden and greenhouse or sourced from neighboring local suppliers.
For Wine Lovers and those who wish to taste the renowned Brunello di Montalcino, it only takes a few steps to reach the Castiglion del Bosco Winery, directly from the Suite or Villa. In addition to the classic tastings, the winery offers a wide selection of experiences, including the possibility of organizing private tastings in the Villa, Brunello verticals and seasonal activities, such as the grape harvest, in which guests and non-guests alike can take part to discover the secrets behind this world of ancient traditions.
Castiglion del Bosco is a historic winery, a founding member of the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino in 1967. Winemaker Cecilia Leoneschi oversees the rituals of the harvest, a two-stage manual selection process and aging in barrels, inside the 4,000-square-foot winery.
Unmissable rendezvous in the Members’ Cellar of the Castiglion del Bosco Winery for one of the Resort’s iconic experiences: A Dinner with Brunello or private helicopter flight over the Brunello region: Vola Brunello [Fly Brunello].
To finish in the Spa (or at the Golf Club).
Also for wellness lovers, The Spa-one of the pillars of Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco’s philosophy-unveils the new year’s innovation in the treatment menu designed to maintain a strong connection to the region and to its ancient holistic wisdom. Using elements of the surrounding nature, such as Tuscan herbs, olive and grape seed oil, Seasonal Experiences are born. Inspired by the different times of the year and its fruits, these are new wellness paths dedicated to each season.
Within the estate again this year golf lovers can gather at The Club-the only private golf club on the peninsula, signed by legendary champion Tom Weiskopf-and at the elegant and cozy Club House, in which there is, in addition, a restaurant open from Spring to Fall.
The Villas, each one unique, are open year-round
The private Villas, located in the 2,000 acres of Tuscan countryside surrounding the estate are open year-round, an ideal escape for lovers of nature and privacy. Each is unique, characterized by its own nuances and fabrics; equipped with a private heated pool, spacious indoor and outdoor living rooms, cozy kitchens by Florentine designer Riccardo Barthel and lush gardens overlooking the iconic hills.
In the Villas, the service is impeccable, starting with waking up to breakfast prepared by the Mama in Villa-a housekeeper who takes care of daily chores and makes you feel at home-to follow up with a wide variety of customizable activities to be arranged in the complete privacy of your own residence or off the estate-to be reached in your own Land Rover Defender (7-seater) or 4×4 off-road vehicle, provided.
The “Sense of Place,” the Sense of Place™
The brand’s guiding philosophy is the Sense of Place™, the willingness and desire to invite and help guests immerse themselves in the destination and the local community through exceptional experiences in the local area. At Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco (open until January 7, 2026) new experiences are born throughout the year to celebrate this special year.
