New Year’s Eve recedes
So runs the Befana,
to bring little presents
In children’s stockings.
All night up and down
On the broom for the most part
In and out she goes
…what a struggle at her age!
In the end she is so tired,
With a pain in her hip as well,
Down with the broom, put down the sack
For the arm is so slack.
She really needs a nap
that helps a little bit
it doesn’t take a soothsayer…
a nice glass of wine!
