Pia Donata Berlucchi passed away

Pia Donata Berlucchi

Pia Donata Berlucchi has passed away at the age of 83. She was a protagonist of Brescian oenology and longtime president of the Fratelli Berlucchi winery, a historic entity in Borgonato di Corte Franca. Founded in 1927 by her father Antonio.

Born in 1942, one of the founder’s five children, she has represented a point of family and cultural continuity for the company, helping to consolidate its identity in the Franciacorta landscape.

Under her leadership, the Freccianera brand has found its own recognizability.

Alongside her business activities, Pia Donata Berlucchi has also played a leading role on the association front. She was past president of the National Association of Women in Wine from 2003 to 2009. Has held important positions in ONAV, contributing to the spread of wine culture and the training of new wine enthusiasts.

Among the most significant initiatives, support for the Co.N.V.I.(National Consortium of Italian Wines) project,. Aimed at promoting wine knowledge in schools, testifies to a commitment that went beyond the business, embracing a broader vision of dissemination and cultural responsibility.

A reserved but authoritative figure, she has been able to accompany the winery through the generational transition. Leaving room for the contribution of the family’s new recruits, who are already active in the winery, without losing the link with the territory.

With her passing, Franciacorta loses a lucid and coherent voice, capable of holding together family roots and an open look at the future.

Daniele Cernilli and the entire DoctorWine editorial staff sent condolences to the family.
