Chianina & Syrah 2026 – March 6-9 in Cortona: the Valdichiana food and wine excellence festival

From March 6 to 9, 2026, Cortona, a beautiful Etruscan town in the heart of the Tuscan Valdichiana, will host Chianina & Syrah . The food and wine festival celebrates the meeting of two local excellences: Syrah wine and Chianina IGP meat. An event that combines authentic flavors, great wines, starred chefs and activities for the whole family, transforming the town into a true capital of good living.

Organized by Terretrusche Events in collaboration with the Municipality of Cortona, the festival offers a rich and engaging program that focuses on high-quality Syrahs, Chianina-based dishes, masterclasses, workshops, cooking shows and in-depth moments for enthusiasts and insiders.

The heart of the festival: wine, tastes and culture

Chianina & Syrah was born from the idea of enhancing the cornerstone products of the Valdichiana: the Syrahs of the Cortona DOC along with a selection of Italian and international Syrahs. Alongside the Syrah we find fine Chianina IGP meat, the protagonist of tastings, grills and unusual gastronomic proposals.

Cortona is now considered one of the most interesting areas for Syrah production in Italy, thanks in part to the pioneering intuition of a number of local winemaking families. The festival celebrates this history and the identity of the area through wine but also through unique sensory experiences.

During the festival there is no shortage of moments dedicated to the gastronomic excellence of Tuscany. From traditional wood-fire grilling of Chianina meat to gourmet burgers and a special area dedicated toItalian haute patisserie and artisanal ice cream.

The wine producers present come mainly from Tuscany and the rest of Italy, with the presence of international wineries as well, including Syrah producers from the Rhone and other important wine territories.

The program of the days

The event is spread over four days, with a full schedule of events for all tastes:

  • March 6, 2026 – Cortona City of Syrah / International Symposium
    Official opening with meetings on the role of Syrah in the wine scene, tastings of Cortona and international Syrahs, and moments of discussion among producers, journalists and sommeliers.
  • March 6 and 9 – Gala Dinners
    Two gourmet evenings dedicated to the great chefs of Italian cuisine, with dishes inspired by the pairing of Chianina IGP and Syrah.
  • March 6-9 – Syrah and Chianina Tasting Exhibition
    Spaces dedicated to tasting Syrah wines and Chianina meat dishes, with the participation of about 50 wineries and more than 30 restaurants.
  • March 9 event will be reserved for operators and the press
  • Cooking Shows and Masterclasses
    Cooking demonstrations, workshops and meetings led by leading figures in the restaurant and wine industries to deepen their knowledge of raw materials, cooking techniques and the synergies between cuisine and full-bodied red wines.
  • Family activities
    Children’s workshops and experiential trails that engage even the youngest audience in the traditions of local cuisine and viticulture
