Two white wines from the Marche region not to be missed

Bianchi marchigiani

Let’s talk about Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Riserva Salmariano 2021 Marotti Campi and Bianchello del Metauro Chiaraluce 2022 Crespaia. Two whites from the Marche region both 96 points in tasting, both in our guide Wines for every pocket.

Those who follow us know that the 2025 edition of the guide Wines for every pocket is now in print and will be available from the presentation that will take place in Milan, at the Hotel Principe di Savoia, on February 24.. There are 303 wines reviewed, available at the shelf at an average price of less than 18 euros.

Today we want to bring two of these wines to your attention, given the phantasmagoric scores they achieved in the blind tasting: the Castelli di Jesi Verdicchio Classico Riserva Salmariano 2021 Marotti Campi and the Bianchello del Metauro Chiaraluce 2022 Crespaia. These are two white wines, both from the Marche region. The first is of a well-known and appreciated type and appellation, while the second is of a much less well-known appellation.

But that’s the beauty of our pocket guide: pointing out alongside great classic wines from areas, producers and grape varieties unknown to most.

Marotti Campi, a reference in the area

Lorenzo Marotti Fields
We start with the Marotti Campi farm, a beautiful agricultural property
in the heart of Morro d’Alba, owned by the Marotti Campi family since the 1800s, in which, however, the vineyard acquired a fundamental role in the 1990s with the current generation in charge composed of Giovanni flanked by his wife Francesca and son Lorenzo. A production carried out with great style, which has become a reference point for the interpretation of Lacrima, but which also achieves important results with Verdicchio.

Crespaia, a small reality to follow.

Crespaia vineyard work
This small farm is located in the rolling hills surrounding
Fano, in the area specializing in the production of Bianchello del Metauro. Established in 2011, it enjoys the hillside air and influences of the Adriatic Sea, which is only three kilometers away. The farm’s ten hectares of vineyards are all organically farmed; there is modern technological equipment in the winery that does not overpower their wine-making know-how. In addition to the Bianchello grape variety, it also has small plots of Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Chardonnay. The three estate still wines are closed with screw caps. They also produce a very good oil.
