Only 2,500 bottles per variety for Giovanni and Luigi Collavini’s project, *Oltre il giardino*, which aims to highlight individual vineyards by focusing on four grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Friulano, and Malvasia. Giulio Colomba tells us more.
At Collavini , too, the focus is on highlighting individual vineyards. With Patriarch Manlio’s full approval, his sons Giovanni and Luigi decided to launch four wines, Two made from native grape varieties—Friulano and Malvasia—and two from international varieties—Chardonnay and Sauvignon—produced from individual vineyards. Of course, there was a preliminary phase of identifying vineyards where the soil composition, exposure, age of the vines, and production history would ensure the success of the selection. Working in the Colli Orientali del Friuli and Collio regions, we selected two of our own vineyards and two from long-standing suppliers.

The project is called Beyond the Garden and aims to highlight how a well-tended vineyard serves as an extension of the home garden.
Initial production is limited to 2,500 bottles per variety.
Meticulous craftsmanship

The grapes are harvested by hand and pressed whole. Fermentation and the subsequent 9-month aging take place in barrels of varying origin, history, and capacity, ranging from 300 to 500 liters. After careful tastings, the blend is decided.
The bottles were specially designed for this project, and even the boxes reflect the Collavini family’s attention to detail.
The taste is impressive. These wines are characterized by elegance, harmony, finesse, and excellent drinkability, despite their high alcohol content.
Beyond the Garden a journey begins at just the right pace, in keeping with the desire to represent the Friulian terroir.
