With Franco Bernabei , one of the winemakers who has had the greatest impact on contemporary Italian wine has passed away. He was 73 years old, born in 1952. A meticulous technician, a sensitive interpreter of terroirs, and a consultant to some of the country’s most important wineries, he helped raise the quality of Italian winemaking through his expertise, vision, and discretion.
He had been battling the illness for some time, dealing with it privately.
